Stained glass,
Filled with colors and sunlight,
Beautiful to look at...
You may think I am talking about
The beautiful windows
Within a sanctuary for the holy,
But I am not.
This stained glass shines
Within the warm,
Living sanctuary.
A house made out of bones
So fragile,
Like glass engulfed by flesh.
It holds a mind
Filled with ideas that will never be said...
That would never be heard.
It holds a heart kind
But broken,
And eyes that have seen too much.
This stained glass
Has scratches left by
Wars and broken people
Who said but did not mean
The colors and sunlight fading
Quickly,
But not fast enough.
It soon replaces the sun
With a light bulb,
But no one seemed to notice
That the brightness was dimmed..
The colors no longer filled
The dark rooms within other people,
Leaving the stained glass in vain.
This stained glass
Was once so beautiful.
Before the sunlight was replaced
By a dying bulb
And the colors faded.
The light bulb went out
And the faded glass shattered
Leaving another dark room
That can not be
Saved.
