Zane stood awkwardly in the corner, barely able to hear his thoughts over the indistinct chatter. He started to have second thoughts of coming to the party that Garroth and Laurence were hosting. The problem was that Zane lived in the same house with them, and they were always throwing wild parties. Slowly, Zane tiptoed towards the door, wanting to get away from the large crowd of people. He was almost to the door, but collided with Travis and his punch spilled onto Travis' shirt, causing a large red-ish stain.
"Oh, I-I'm sorry!"
Zane rolled his eyes.
"Oh, that is just perfectly fine. Just a little punch. No harm" Zane said sarcastically.
Travis didn't catch on to the sarcasm.
"Oh, wow! Thanks, bro!"
Zane glared at him.
"Really? Are you that stupid??"
Travis looked hurt. Zane sighed, and walked outside. His skin stung as the snow fell on him. He breathed deeply, glad to be outside and away from the crowd. He sat down on the edge of the porch, lost in his thoughts. Travis walked outside, holding a towel.
"Hey, umm, I brought you a towel."
Zane turned around to glare at Travis.
"I am fine, thank you very much. Now, what do you want?"
Travis sighed unhappily.
"Nothing Zane...... I'll just go now....."
Travis turned around to walk inside. But he slipped on ice and fell backwards onto Zane, causing them to fall into the snow. Becca ran outside to see what all the noise was.
"Hey!!! What's going on......."
She laughed when she saw Travis on Zane.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!! GAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!"
Zane shoved Travis off of him. He stood up with his fists clenched.
"Knock it off, Becca."
Becca just smirked and raised her fists.
"C,mon. Fight me, bro!"
Zane raised his fists too.
"Bring it!"
Becca swung her fist, but Travis jumped between Zane and Becca, and got a fist to the face. Travis crumpled to the ground, groaning in pain. Zane punched Becca on the jaw, growling.
"Go away Becca!!"
Becca grinned.
"Fine! But I'll be back, and things will get ugly!"
Becca walked off. Zane kneeled next to Travis.
"See, idiot? Let me deal with my own fights next time!"
Travis slowly sat up.
"I would, but I can't bear to see you get hurt."
Zane shoved Travis back into the snow.
"Whatever. Just leave me alone."
Zane walked out of the yard and towards the park.
"What does it take for me to be alone for once?"
He walked into the park and sat on the bench, happy for some quiet.
"That little.... Ugh, I swear, the next time I see her, I am going to kill her!!"
A voice replied.
"Who? And I hope that you don't literally kill this person."
Zane turned around.
"Who are you and what do you want?"
The voice laughed softly.
"Tsk, tsk. My, you should learn some manners!"
Zane stood up.
"Show yourself!"
"Geez, alright!"
A person walked out from behind a tree.
"Lucinda?? What are you doing here?"
Lucinda sat on the bench.
"What do you think? Getting away from all the commotion. And I have to say, Becca is not happy. She's giving everyone the evil eye, especially Travis. Poor guy, his face is kind of swollen."
Zane rolled his eyes.
"Maybe he deserves it."
Lucinda glared at Zane.
"Wow, Zane! What has gotten into you?"
Zane looked down at his feet.
"Nothing."
Lucinda looked straight into his eyes, like she was trying to suck information from his soul.
"You like him, don't you?"
Zane's eyes grew wide.
"What the hell? Why would I like that idiot?"
Lucinda kept staring into his eyes.
"You do!"
Zane stood up abruptly.
"What would you know??"
He ran out of the park without another word.
