Holiday Character Tag

For those who don't know, a character tag is a list of (typically silly) questions that help to develop characters.

These questions and the rules to go with them were created by LiteraryPenguin.

Rules: Provide a brief description of your story before starting. Answer each question with the name of at least one character, and explain why you picked them for that question. You can only answer the same character twice. The characters should be original if at all possible; fanfictions may be cool but not all of the characters in them are yours. Finally, tag someone you know to participate in the fun! Or don't. It's all cool.

Her Royal Highness Rose Alaric's 16th birthday feast and ball were supposed to go off without a hitch. Someone forgot to tell that to person who poisoned her father, King Dunkin, during the festivities. To add insult to injury, she and her younger sister Shiara's maid, Kitty, were kidnapped from Shiara's room.

Paul Hextalon is one of the most inept wizards in the history of the one and only Wizarding College. His father being the Grand Vizier--and so having the ear of the king--only makes him more of a disappointment. So when he spots shadowy figures sneaking away from the castle after the ball, he follows them to a portal leading to another, hostile nation. Is he the only wizard who can avert a national crisis? And whatever happened to the beautiful, exotic girl he danced with at the ball?

Kitty Shapar is fed up with the universe. Aside from the one wonderful thing the universe handed her--her other, deadly form--life sucks if you're a shapeshifter. So when a ruckus happened in her hidden village, thanks to Orso, her ex, she was assigned to secret princess babysitting duty. So began her life as a maid, but for the younger princess. When people look to kidnap Shiara and accidentally grab Rose, she sees her chance to push the shapeshifter anti-slavery agenda--if she and the princess get out alive... Maybe then she'd get to see the cute guy she met when she snuck into the ball.

Her Highness Shiara Alaric--Oh pardon me, Her Temporary Majesty now that her father is dead--needs a break. The guy her sister and her maid were eyeing at the ball is missing, and so are her sister and her maid. On top of that, an army is encroaching on the capital city of Alarak, where she's now in charge. And the Regent's Crown is supposed to give good advice, but all it does is get tangled in her incredibly curly hair.

The outcome of all of this is still a work in progress. I doubt this will appear on Wattpad, as I use Wattpad as a place for posting what I write when I have writer's block on ^this story.

So, onto the questions!

1. Two of your characters are throwing Christmas parties on the exact same day. Who are they and whose party does significantly better?

Rose/Shiara and Kitty would both throw parties. Kitty's party would be in her tiny town on the woods, and Rose's would be in the castle, so Rose would have significantly better attendance. However, nobody parties like a bunch of shapeshifters, so Kitty's party would definitely be cooler.

2. Which of your characters shows up to the party already completely hammered?

Kitty's ex-boyfriend, Orso, would probably show up to her party completely uninvited and completely hammered. Part of why she dumped him.

3. Which one of your characters would be the most likely to bring lingerie to Dirty Santa?

Orso. He'd like to see Kitty in it, despite his lies that they've slept together. The other part of why she dumped him.

4. Which character would be the funniest to end up with [the lingerie]?

Louis. He's a shapeshifter who's also a sheep. Like LiteraryPenguin's Riolus, he's a rather large man, but Louis has insanely curly blonde hair and a career in fashion. He's a sweatshop of one for his business as the largest supplier of beautiful dresses to the nobility of Alarak. He's also single and raising his niece and nephew. And you can bet anything that they would be there.

5. Which character decides it would be a great idea to make Christmas cookies in a tree, like real Christmas elves do, and then burns the house down?

Most shapeshifters live in treehouses, so there's some potential there, but they are REALLY careful with fire. It would probably be Paul, although he's not stupid enough to be baking cookies INSIDE A TREE, he still has issues with controlling his fire magic.

6. Which nice character ends up with coal in their stocking?

Shiara's mother. Rose and Shiara do not share a mother, they're just half-sisters. Shiara's mother once wanted to put her daughter first in line for the succession, and so locked Rose in her playroom and set it on fire. Shiara rushed in and pulled Rose out, and now they are both deathly afraid of fire. That's a terrible thing to do to any child, much less your step-daughter.

7. Which character got arrested for attacking a mall Santa?

Kitty. I don't know why, but if anyone's attacking anything, Kitty is your woman. She may look like her other form is a cat, and it is, of a sort--but it's NOT a housecat. Nooo.

Paul also might end up in this situation, just because his control is less than stellar. Flame that mall Santa's beard, Paul; flame that creepy mall Santa's fake beard.

8. Which character is just going to the party just for the food?

Shiara. She hates social functions.

9. Which character would most likely build a snowman that's a little too anatomically correct?

I know that you're only supposed to use a character twice, but this is too perfect.

Orso would build a snowman of himself with incredibly ripped muscles and ...other enhancements. Kitty would then deface it to make it look much more like him.

10. Two characters show up to the party dressed as a two-person Rudolf costume. Who is the head, and who is the butt?

Louis's niece and nephew. His niece (currently unnamed) could very easily bully her brother (also currently unnamed) into doing this.
