Chapter 3 - Dreams and Visions

The familiar sound coming from my phone woke me up. I opened one eye then the other, analyzing the room. Blake was sleeping soundlessly on the other side of the couch. I grabbed my phone lazily from the coffee table noticing I had forgotten to charge it last night. I unlocked the phone to see I had gotten a text message from Jesse.

'Hey, so you want me to pick you up at twelve?'

I had almost forgotten about Jesse. I checked the time which was almost eleven.

I quickly texted him back 'yeah that's fine.'

I rushed to my room, not caring about the possessed jewelry box. I grabbed a pair of jeans with an oversized gray sweater. I went into the bathroom and quickly stripped off my clothes, hopping in the shower. I was trying to rush because I didn't want Jesse to wait for me.

While I was brushing my hair, I couldn't help but think about the dream I had last night. I kept dreaming it over and over again, always waking up when the lady disappeared. What was mostly weird was that the lady was Jesse's mom. What did the dream mean? Everything about the dream was weird. The room I was in, my destiny Jesse's mom kept saying, my guardian, this gem she kept mentioning, and what freaked me out the most was that she had the same exact key that she gave me.

I looked at the necklace that was laying on my desk. I picked it up, observing it. Magiko dunamas, I thought in my head. Jesse's mom mentioned it in my dream. My suspicion rose to what it meant. Why did Mrs. Moralle want me to keep this necklace safe?

Something on the necklace distracted me from my thoughts. There was something on it that wasn't there before. On the key there was a skinny, greenish line that ran through the side of it. The whole situation started freaking me out.

Did what had happened yesterday have anything to do with my dream? It couldn't possibly be. It was only a dream and what ensued yesterday was probably my imagination. I couldn't help but feel that it was all a coincident. No, it couldn't be. I'm over thinking all of this.

I went back in the living room, finding Blake awake. He was laying on the side of the couch, where I had slept, watching t.v. Blake got up as he heard me walk in the room. He watched me curiously as I sat on the couch.

"Good morning my sister," he said, "and why are you dressed so nicely today?" He said trying to act polite.

I looked down on me to see what I was wearing that looked nice. I didn't see how I was dressed nicely, I was decent. "I'm only wearing jeans and a sweater," I remarked.

"Yeah but it's unlike you to dress like that on a Saturday. You usually wear sweatpants with a shirt- oh wait!" He said like he figured something out, "you're hanging out with Jesse today."

He crossed his arms looking annoyed at the thought of me hanging out with Jesse. "I thought we settled this last night," I said crossing my arms.

We eyed each other, like they did in those cowboy movies. He looked up and down on me, but then his eyes widened and he stopped our little game. I was confused to what shocked him so much.

"Uh can I help you?" I asked confused.

"I have never seen you wear that necklace. I didn't know you still had it," he said surprised.

What necklace was he talking about? I didn't put on a necklace this morning. I looked down to find the key necklace dangling from my neck. Shivers ran down my spine sending me goosebumps. I swear I thought I put the necklace back. I'm feeling like this freaking necklace is haunting me, but for some reason it felt comfortable around my neck. Like it belonged for me to wear it.
