Alex rolled onto her side so she could stare at her sleeping girlfriend, even if it was only for a few minutes.

"Alex?" Maggie mumbled, not bothering to open her eyes to actually make sure she was being watched. Maggie just knew.

Instead of answering, Alex just blushed and smiled. She was falling deeper and deeper in love with Maggie, despite the fact that she was already more in love with her than sheèd ever been with anyone else in her life. "Let's get a cat."

Maggie's eyes flew open as she sat up. "Two things. First, don't just spew out random things. Second, why the hell do you want a cat?" Her hands were flying all over the place as she spoke, making her all that much more adorable in Alex's eyes.

"Cats are great. Well, except Cat Grant. She's a little bit of a bitch, if you ask me. Anyways, I just really want to parent something with you, and obviously we aren't having a baby any time soon, so if you'd just say yes to getting a cat, that'd be great." Alex let her little speech trail off by the end, leaving Maggie shocked.

"Alex, I'm honored, but don't you want a dog?" Maggie chuckled, making Alex's face turn bright red. "No, seriously. Dogs are loyal. I had a dog growing up. Didn't you?"

"No," Alex squeaked, "my mom has a fear of dogs. I- I always had cats."

Maggie's jaw dropped as she listened to her girlfriend speak. "You're kidding me, right?"

"No!" Alex burst out into laughter as she saw Maggie's face scrunch up in confusion.

"That's it. We're getting a dog!"

Alex squealed, but not an excited squeal. It was more of a terrified-but-cool-with-it squeal. If that was even possible. "Can we get a cat too?"

"No. No cats, Danvers."

When the duo got to the pet store, Alex's face lit up like a kid in a candy store, only ten times brighter. She saw this absolutely beautiful German Shepherd puppy, who was as big (or bigger) than the full-grown adult dogs in the kennels. "Ooh, can we get him?" she asked, running over to his kennel.

"I mean, if you insist on getting a dog."

Alex's face twisted in confusion. "Does that mean I can get a cat instead?"

Maggie groaned and shook her head. "No way. There's no way I'm sharing you with a cat."

"Fine. Whatever." Alex was pissed at her girlfriend, but not really all that angry. No, she was more in love than she was angry. After all, this puppy is absolutely freaking adorable.

Maggie wandered off to track down something, and a salesperson walked up to Alex to talk. "So you want Daisy, eh?"

"Daisy. She's amazing. My girlfriend and I, well, we decided that we want a dog. Are you Canadian? Canadians say 'eh', not Americans."

The stranger raised his eyebrows. "Yes, I'm Canadian. Go get your girl, and I'll get the papers."

"Got it!" Alex ran off to find Maggie, which wasn't very hard considering they were the only ones there. "Maggie, we're getting the German Shepherd, okay?"

"Okay, but I've gotta do something."

Alex signed the papers and officially bought the dog, and walked him over to Maggie, who was standing in the cat section, holding a cat carrier. With a cat inside.

"So we get a cat and a dog!?" Alex squealed, jumping up and down as she saw Maggie nod.

"Danvers. Calm."

"Not gonna happen, Sawyer."

"Look at Daisy! Isn't she the cutest puppy ever?" Alex showed her sister a picture of her new pets. Well, this wasn't exactly the first picture to be shown. More like the fifteenth. Or fiftieth.

"I thought I was the cutest puppy." Kara pouted, batting her eyelashes at her older sister.

"Of course you are, Kara. Of course you are."
