AminaPOV

Ceilia's been gone for about a week now and I've been managing the bakery with two other employees. I was headed home and when I got there I picked up my mail off the floor. Magazines, two bills, and lastly a letter. It was from Louisiana. Opening it I looked it over.

It read:
Hey Amina it's been a while. I hope the Big Apple is treating you well. I wish this was great news, but it ain't. Mom passed away. It was weird, we don't exactly know what happened. Autopsy was an option but the idea of them doin' that to her didn't sit well with either of us and Deon is still on his 4 year tour so he couldn't say his piece about it . The funeral is in a few days, y'know before the holidays. It's real crazy down here. Wish you were here you were always the calm in the chaos and right now we all need a little peace. PS: If you can attend don't wear black. Mama always said black looks good but not at her funeral
PPS: I actually do have a little good news. I'm pregos! You'll be an auntie come January.
                            -Tracee J.

After i finished reading it I chucked the letter and slid down the door and broke down crying.

Why? Just why? First my dad now this and right before Christmas too. I thought.

I proceded to ball my eyes out then a knock interrupted my little sob fest.

"Amina?"

"Who is it?" I said hiccuping and wiping a stray tear.

"Nikolas. Are you ok ?"

"No."

"Wanna let me in so we can talk about it?"

"I don't want you to see me like this, I'm a mess."

"Well we can talk from outside then."

"Ok."

"Well start from the beginning."

"My m-mom..." I said trailing off.

"What about her?"

"She died."

"I wish I had the right words but for once I'm stuck."

"That's not even the worst part I can't even go to her funeral. A plane ticket is too expensive and on top of that when I get married there's no one to walk me down the isle. She was always  rushing me to get married and now she won't see my dress or the grandkids she would've had."

"Hey Amina."

"Yeah." I said

"Can you please let me in, it's starting to rain out here."

"Yeah, hold on."

I let him in and he was soaked, shirt sticking and all. He came over to me kissed my forehead then engulfed me in a hug.

I'm so sorry love ."

"Me too. I miss her a bunch already. I need pie. I'm just gonna eat 'til the sting is gone I'd go for a run but it's raining." she said pulling out of my hold and walking towards her kitchen

"Amina I'm sure your mom wouldn't want you sulking about with a pie."

"It'd make me feel better and I'll do as I please." I said sniffling.

"Not today love, you will not drown your sorrows in pie. Not on my watch.

"Leave my pie and I, just go."

"Pie isn't the answer babe."

"I need pie." I said sitting it on the counter.

"No what you need is to be with people who care, not eat pie until you can't anymore."
