"Tony I am 17 years old you let my TWIN brother go on as many missions as he wants, but try and put up a fight when it is my order? Sexist that's what it is." He rolled his eyes at me taking steps toward me, "No Selene. Rafael is more powerful and better suited. You tell Fury that I said that and if he puts you in I have people working for me who would love to learn about his little organisation SHIELD." I groaned, "Tony you threatened that when he first put me at the desk! I am just as in as much danger here as I am there. Possibly more here since everyone knows you are Iron Man!" It was his turn to groan and he ran a hand through his hair, "Selene if I could I would be protecting Rafael right now as well. If either of you got hurt in anyway your mother, my sister, would rise from the grave and personally drag me to hell." "Tony I have done missions before," I changed my tone to one with patience, "Tony I will be fine. Rafael and I look out for each other. He could get hurt if I'm not there." Tony nodded his stubbornness fading, "You come back here safe." "We always do!" I called as I ran out.
Rafael would've been fine if I wasn't there. It was my fault.
He as always was taller than me staring me down as I caught up with him. "Took you long enough. If I wasn't keeping mental tabs on our target we'd of lost him." "Brief me again?" His green eyes looked at me disappointment evident, "You didn't read the file?" My voice took a higher pitch as we both stepped up our walk, "I did Rafi! I just- I don't remember it!" A sharp slap to my face made my dark eyes burn bright silver. "You idiot you are gonna get yourself killed not going in with the information!" I fought to remain calm, "I'm sorry Rafael. I remember that we aren't classified to know the name. He's dangerous and his description is a six foot four inches middle aged man with dark brown hair silver around the temples and hazel almost green eyes. He is Caucasian but often with a deep tan. His only distinctive feature is that there is scar tissue on his right jaw leading down to his neck. It is possible that it is from a fire due to the deepness of the scar."
Rafael smiled his eyes faintly glowing gold. "That's all you need to know sister the rest is excess information." I nodded putting all my trust in him. I should've gone back I was suited for the mission.
Rafael never would forgive me for what was going to happen.
His eyes closed tightly, "He knows I'm tracking him." He looked anxious when he opened them, "Selene I need you to teleport us there." I nodded feeling him feed me where I needed to go.
When we saw him he looked like anyone. A veteran maybe because of his scar and prosthetic hand. As if reading my thoughts Rafael turned worried eyes toward me, "Remember your training sister. Looks are deceiving." I nodded images flooding in my mind.
I was thrown to the ground. "Daddy, I didn't mean to. I can't control it." I was scared dark chains moving on my hand asking if I needed them. A sharp slap stung my cheek and I felt tears begin to fall. "Daddy?" "You aren't my daughter!" I smelled a sour sent and my nose crinkled recognising it. Alcohol. I felt like I was drowning in it as he breathed towards me. Another sharp crack hit my face and I choked as blood ran into my mouth and down my lip. "Daddy please. I'm sorry." I didn't know it wasn't my fault. I thought I was to blame. Tears poured and I sniffled, "You Selene are a monstrosity. A child of the devil." Then, came my mom brown eyes staring at me. She was holding me close and I could smell hazelnut. She smelled like haze but all the time. "You are the devil Thanavaldus." She spat at my father. I could see him. Foggy green eyes and dark hair. My brother was a spitting image of him except there was something missing from my father. He spat at my mother and I felt myself surge forward before she pushed me back wiping the spit off her face. "You Christine are the devil." I cried out as I felt him shove my mom away from me grabbing my hair.
"Selene I need you!" I snapped back. My eyes narrowing at the man. He smiled his eyes flashing dangerously, "Hello my children. Where are your siblings?" I fought to restrain myself from letting the darkness claw his eyes out. "My twins." "Father," I spat the word it felt sick in my mouth.
"Oh Selene. My child. You are even further off the path of righteousness then before." "How the hell is this about me and my path? Last I saw you I was 8 and you were burning in a fire. He smiled a hungry angry sickening smile. the scar tissue rippled and he grimaced. "Where are your sisters? Your brother? How's your mother, that devil, letting you do this?" Rafael stepped in at the mention of our mother, "You killed her!" Flames began to begin at Rafael's back and he looked angrier than I'd ever seen him. His eyes flicked gold and green quickly his wavy dark hair rippling catching red like the flames that started at his back. "Selene and I are the only ones left. Autumn. Savannah. Connor. Mom! They are all dead because of you." He took a step back, eyes wavering unsteady, "Liar!" Suddenly behind him figures began to form out of the ground and I wavered before powering up. He was the most powerful person I'd ever met as the universe around me rippled.
I cried out when I'd realised he'd banished me into the darkness. My powers were always weaker here. It took me awhile my eyes glowing showing me the door and electricity crackling at my fingers keeping me human. When I returned the cameras exploded around me surging with electricity. Rafael was curling my father and creating light creatures to defend him from the circling earth demons. My father gave me a cocky smile, "Ah hello Selene back from hell already." "Oh father you must be mistaken you just sent me home." He stared astonished as I let the shadows rip through creating a storm even Rafael seemed taken aback at first before he gripped my hand. We'd tried this before at a lower level, but my father had plans of his own and the sky darkened as the ground beneath our feet rumbled. "Together?" Rafael asked gripping my hand right. I squeezed reassuringly, "Brother I will be by your side till the end. Tell me when." He nodded face set in concentration. When he returned his eyes glowed a a darkening gold. "It was good thinking of you to evacuate the block last night." "Thank you." "Are you sure you are ready we may not make it out of this alive." "It's him. He deserves to rot for what he did to mom." "They said do. anything to stop him. I order you to release your energy!" The darkness flowed out of me as soon as he said it, I should've expected my father to have a trick up his sleeve, but I was too consumed.
I should've checked the surroundings. Everything would've been fine if I did my job like a good agent. I was too consumed. My fault.
Needless to say I was surprised when my powers were hurled back at me. I guess you could say that's when I really got angry. That's when I ruined everything. I didn't think about safety I charged in. My father said my eyes were burning like bright light the silver of a blade. I told him that was a perfect description. I could've been a killer. He lashed out at me and using the darkness I wrapped my hand around his heart. I could've killed him. I would've killed him. Darkness clouded my vision, but Rafael tried to save me. While my father lay bleeding out by my side my brother pulled me away from the terror and told me to heal myself. "I'll be right back," he said. He lied.
He threw himself into battle. When I tried to mentally ask him why when I first saw the light coming from the middle of the battle. He told me he didn't want me to have to live with killing our father. I cried because I wasn't able to stop him. I wasn't able to stop his light from killing them all. I wasn't able to stop my shadows from consuming them as the light left.

"But what lead you here? If I'm correct that was almost 9 years ago?" A man with thinning hair and sad eyes asked. "So much has happened during that time I didn't realise. I'm sorry."
