Chapter 21

Jake's P.O.V.

"Is it something we did?" Wendy asked as we looked at where Star had disappeared from while Wendy frowned slightly. "No, it was probably something else, or she's mad at me. Don't worry about it she'll get over it." I told Wendy as I smiled down at her which made her also smile while I looked back to where Star had disappeared. 'It was probably Rabo again. Damn him! He always has to ruin Star's happiness! Star had told me that he was constantly in her head during these past few days.'

"What? Why?" I asked Star as we walked towards the infirmary where they had taken Elfman. I was walking around the halls till I bumped into Wendy, Carla, The hag, Natsu, and Star. The others went ahead of us so we were just talking about Rabo and what had happened while I was gone. "I don't know, but he's in my head every chance that he gets. He's toying with me just to see me break." Star told me as I could hear the sadness in her voice while I glared at the ground. "Jake...You were serious right?" Star asked me as her head went down a bit while I saw her hands clutched tightly. "Uh?" "You were serious when you promised me...that you wouldn't die soon....right?" Star asked me as my eyes soften for a little bit while I smiled at her. "I promised that I'd be by your side for a long time. I'm not going any where Star." I told her as I hugged her which she returned while she sighed deeply. "I'm just....scared to lose you Jake. I don't need another friend dying for or because of me." Star said as we both pulled away from each other while I smiled down at her. "You have my word." I told her as I did a closed eye smile while I tilted my head a bit.'

'I made those promises to her and I won't brake them! We WILL take down Rabo together and watch him suffer. I promise Star....' "Come on Jake! We're almost there!" Wendy yelled as she gave me a huge smile while I smiled at her. "Coming!" I ran up to the others as they waited for me to catch up while they smiled slightly at me. "Where do you think Star went?" Lucy asked as I sighed a bit in thought while I put my hands behind my head. "Probably to that lake she always goes to. It always calms her down and I know she's safe there." I told them as I turned towards Gray while I saw him slightly smiling. "How do you know that she's safe?" Erza asked me as she raised an eyebrow at me while the others looked at me with a confused look. "No one really goes there, let alone knows where it is. Star has only showed me the place and she made sure that no one was following us." I told them as they nodded their heads while I saw Gray smile softly which made me raise an eyebrow at him but I let it slide. "I actually wanted to see Star fight that Saberjerk! Was she able to ever beat him?" Natsu asked me as he turned towards me with a smirk while I smiled a little. "Not really, he doesn't go full out on her so she doesn't go all out either." I told Natsu as the others looked at me with a weird look while I gave them a small smile. "Why doesn't he go all out on her? Can't he smell her Dragon Slayer Magic?" Wendy asked me as she tilted her head a bit while I shook my head side to side. "Star doesn't want the other guilds to know that she has three powers. They'll think she's cheating. And as for the scent she masks it so Sting and Rogue won't smell her Dragon Slayer powers. Natsu, when you sniff out Star during the Games did she smell any different to you?" I asked Natsu as he looked up in a thinking pose while a light bulb suddenly appeared above his head. "Yea! Now that I think about it she smells like...vanilla." Natsu said as he looked at me with a smile while I nodded my head at him. "When Star masks her dragon smell and her powers, her scent changes. When she doesn't mask her scent, her Dragon Slayer and Ice Make Magic are more noticeable. When she has all her powers, Star starts to smell like sweet strawberries with a hint of vanilla." I told them as I saw Natsu and Wendy nod while Wendy smiled at me. "Yea! She does! I remembered when I first saw her when we got back, her smell was different! And it was just like you said Jake! Sweet strawberries and vanilla!" Wendy said as I chuckled slightly while I nodded my head at her. "So Star never fully went out on him?" Gray asked as I shook my head side to side while I sighed a bit. "Nope, not even when they bumped into each other on a mission." I told them as they nodded their heads while we heard the crowds cheers and yells from here. "Jake.....do you know what is happening with Star? You know, like why she's acting so distant from us and the others?" Lucy asked me from behind which made me stop walking while I looked at the others over my shoulder. They all looked at me with a serious expression while Wendy looked at me with a bit of hopeful eyes. "(Sigh).......I can't say what's wrong with her, it's not my story to tell. All I can say is that whatever she's not telling you, then it's probably because she wants you all safe. Safe from what? That's also something I can't say. Have faith in Star, trust that whatever is wrong with her that she'll tell you all some day. I know for sure that you guys would be the first ones that she'll go to if there is something going on. Star....knows that one day she'll need to tell you, but for now just be by her side. She may not say it, but I can tell that she doesn't want to be alone. She's been alone all this time and I don't want her to stay alone forever......Can you guys promise me something?" I asked them as I slightly turned my head to them while I gave them a small smile. "What is it?" Lucy asked as I smiled sadly at the ground while my hair shadowed my eyes. "If......If I die too early than expected......can you guys stay by Star's side? Promise me that whatever happens, good or bad, you guys and Fairy Tail will always be by her side. No matter what anyone says about her......Can you guys promise me that?" I asked them as I gave them a sad smile while they looked slightly shocked at my words. "We promise." Gray said as the others looked at me with a serious look while they nodded their heads. "Good...." "Can you promise us something Jake?" Lucy asked as she took a step towards me while I tilted my head to her. "What would that be?" I asked her as she gave me a serious look while I saw her clutched her hands tightly. "Promise us that one day Star will tell us what's eating her up." Lucy said as I chuckled softly while I looked down then back up at her. "I can promise you that when she feels like it she'll tell you, but it'll take some time." I told Lucy as I gave her a smile while the others smiled softly at me. "Alrighty!!" I yelled which made them jump slightly while I turned my back to them. "Let go watch Mira fight whoever she's gonna fight!!" I yelled as I began to walk ahead of them while I had a huge smile on my face. 'I hope they keep their promise......Star....When will you tell them?'
