Rhys was yelling for me but I marched on, I held my aripi out in front of me. Plain cream, it took me three months so I could buy it. I saw people buying fireworks so they could launch off the ground. I grumbled about rich kids and shoved open the door to 'Hole in a Wall' a small tavern with rooms. I sat down at the bar and let the head fall onto the hard counter
"Wine, Theo." She shot me a glare "Please?"
She gave me a dazzling smile, brighter against her mahogany skin. Her curly hair was in a bun and her bright eyes had this mischievous glimmer.
"Now spill it, you're drinking before noon, that early even for you!"
"Rhys."
"WAIT! Did you finally confess?! I've been trying to get you together for months! Oh I knew yo-"
"I kissed him after he said I was crazy and he told me I was an awful person." Theodosia froze she set the glass down. She placed a hand on my head and I was biting a lip to stifle sobs.
"I had a dream about falling again. It's funny," I mused, a line of my auburn hair falling in front of my eyes " I have fallen from the sky as well as his affections." I looked up before grabbing my goblet and downing the strong brew. Theo shot me a pitying look as I gave her a coin. I stood up and gave her a hug over the bar
"Love you Theo see you tonight?"
"If I can get off yes I can go to the theater so I can see you act" I felt a smile break its way across my face, my eyes squinted. I wove my through the bars and tables, the few patrons already shit-faced. I turned around
"Keep an eye on my aripi!" I was shot a glare "Please?" She nodded and I turned to march out to the apartment building I lived with my mother. I looked up at the towering buildings, their looming faces of tall windows of the upper east and I walked to west end, to my apartment. When I finally sway the twenty story brick monstrosity I lived in. I let out a string of curses as I marched through the broad double doors, down the entry room and up the stairs. I had to rest on the seventh flight of stairs, legs and lungs burning. I was sitting on the window sill when I heard thundering footsteps up the stairwell. I looked and lo and behold it was Rhys. He stared up at me and froze. I stood up turned on my heel.
"Nope. Nope nope nope! I am taking the nope train out of here to fuck tHIS TOWN WHY ARE YOU HERE?!!!" I was screeching as I thumped up the stairs, I stopped short when I felt a hand on my jacket. I looked down at Rhys, he look so helpless. I tugged my jacket out of his hand and as soon as I took one step I head the gravely sound of his voice trying to sing
"Why, do you have to say goodbye?" I took another step
"Just yesterday, I promised you I'd never say goodbye." I felt a hot tear break free and more followed, so I kept on walking, up one more landing and I'm home. So I open the door with the key in our potted plant, I unlocked it with trembling hands and I pulled it open, and closed it shortly after and I slid down with my back against door. I let out a sob.
