I present to you... New Beginnings ... Enjoy

November 2nd

She shivered against the wind, her soft ears laying flat on her head, providing the only warmth on her body. Her once fuzzy tail was frozen to her back, an oversized coat slightly shielding her. It did nothing to trap the limited heat her body provided, however.

Her stomach rumbled and she frowned, a nice, big image of grilled fish appearing in her head, taunting her.

Stupid alcoholic mother and stepfather, calling her unworthy and other hurtful things. The bottle to the mirror above her head and the cuts on her face and arms was the last straw.

He stormed out of his office building with intentions of buying a large coffee and finishing work at his house where nobody, no slut would disturb him. He grumbled, wrapping his expensive coat tighter around his shoulders, his eyes watering from the sting of the wind.

It was just his luck that the coffee shop was packed and the line was all the way to Africa. Today was just not his day. He rubbed his hand on his face in agitation before deciding just to go home.

He turned around to head back into the cold when he saw her. A large coat covering her tiny frame, a black hood covering her face. Some people don't believe in love at first sight, and he thought he didn't until his world slowed down. The more he thought about it, how could you not know? They had to have something about them that just buckled you to your knees and the overpowering feel of emotions sweeping through your entire body. He shuddered, rushing out to catch up with her.

"Hey," he called out, running to her side. Shit, he cursed. Now what? "It's pretty cold out here. Can I get you a hot chocolate?" He was willing to wait in any line for her.

She scrunched her adorable eyebrows and it was then he saw the scratched and cuts. He refrained from frowning or changing any emotions. Physical aspects were much less important when his soul was demanding to be with hers.

"I-I'm sorry, but I think you must have the wrong person," she whispered sweetly, looking down at her feet.

"I saw someone I just had to talk to and I invited her for something hot to drink. I really don't like the word no," he held out his elbow, hoping she'd loop hers through, and when she did he grinned. "The name is Tobias Eaton, and yours?"

"Tris," she murmured, cheeks flushing a deeper red.

"Beautiful, suits you perfectly, Blue Eyes. The line is really long, I've got a restaurant quality coffee machine, along with packets of hot cocoa at my place. Should we go there?"

She giggled softly, there was just something about him. "I hardly know you, Mr. Eaton. I could have had an important meeting you interrupted me from."

"If that were true you wouldn't have come. Might as well stand in line now," he chuckled too.

When they made it to the counter, he ordered his much needed black coffee, and he turned to her.

"I don't have any money," she said to him, frowning a little.

"I'm paying," he said, but she shook her head stubbornly. "And a large hot cocoa too please."

November 7

They met there everyday, until he noticed something odd. She was always wearing the same clothes and she never took off her hood.

"I'm afraid this is the last time we'll be able to meet," she said to him as he waited outside the shop as he had done for the whole week.

"What? Why?" he panicked, eyes going wide. "Did I do something?"

"I've got to go," she whispered. She didn't have anywhere to be, but she didn't want to disappoint him. He was a big man with a lot of money and he needed a strong lady to be with him. They were getting too attached.

"Where? I won't let you leave."

"You should really forget about me," she said, turning around and walking away with her head down, shoulders quivering.

Hot anger courses through him and he raced after her, pushing her against a wall in an alleyway. "I've lost too many damn people for you to do this to me. I've known you for about a week, but it's been the fucking best week of my life. I can't lose one more person, especially not someone like you." He runs his hand down her cheek Unbeknownst to him, he brushed her hood away and he gasped.

Ears. She had cat ears, and they were real. "You're beautiful."

November 23 (Thanksgiving)

"I'm very thankful for you, Tobias." She murmured, her head on his chest. "If you hadn't done what you had done that day, I would have been all alone."

"I couldn't help it. When I saw you that first day, I just couldn't resist. I thought you would have hit me and called me crazy."

She giggled, "I was too awestruck by your handsome face."

"Oh so you think I'm handsome," he grinned huskily, flipping them over so he was hovering over her tiny frame. "Is all of me handsome?" he asks, taking her tiny hand and running it across his chest.

She laughs.

December 25 (Christmas)

"I've never had a real Christmas before," he whispered as he hung the sparkling ornament on the tall, real tree that had fallen off with his jumping excitement when he saw the gifts.

"Neither have I," she admitted. "Usually alone, in my room."

"Another first?" he asked.

"Another first," she confirmed. "Let's open some gifts, and drink hot cocoa and marshmallows." she grinned, eyes sparkling. "Achieve all of the Hallmark traditions."

He laughed, pulling her in his lap as she rattled her first gift. He couldn't stop smiling. His first Christmas with family and love and everything he could ever ask for. And now that he had Tris, nothing could ever go downhill. It could only get better from here.

A year later (December 25)

She laughed despite her obvious pain from the contractions. "I can't believe our baby is coming on Christmas."

"I'd have it no other way, Blue Eyes. It's out Christmas baby," he smiled, kissing her head as she got ready to push. "Merry Christmas."

Finished.
