Tyler soon came to realize that maybe wearing skinny jeans for this wasn't the best choice. First of all, his ankles were being squeezed painfully by both the pants and the skates, and it was super cold.
"Josh... I dunno if I can do this..." He said shakily as he hesitantly stepped into the ice, immediately having to grab the side rails for balance.
"Come on Ty, it's fun!" Josh laughed as he was skating easily on the slippery surface, making Tyler stare in awe.
"I mean I get that, I just don't think I can actually do this without falling on my frickin' face." He slowly tried to shuffle along while holding the rail, but his feet ended up slipping out from under him. Tyler was now hissing at the ache in his butt, since it hit the ice hard. All Josh did was laugh and skate over to his friend, helping him up.
"Okay, okay, I'll help you out, deal?" He said through a chuckle, holding both of Tyler's gloved hands with his own. "Now, move your feet like this." Josh slid his feet against the ice fluidly, somehow staying in place while he did so. Tyler tried to copy the movements of the other's feet, only to have his own wobble to either side, making him almost fall again.
"I caaaaan't." Tyler pouted, yelping when Josh started dragging him along.
"Yes you caaaaan. Just follow my lead and I'll keep you from falling." Tyler hesitantly nodded, gently shuffling his skates on the scratched and weathered ice. It was an indoor skating place, but it was the end of the day, and Josh somehow ended up getting Tyler to 'break into' the place. In reality, they didn't really break the law doing this, since one of Josh's brothers worked there and had keys, so he just borrowed them to take Tyler out. Not that Tyler knew they were there past hours, because with him being a mostly non-rule breaking kid, that wouldn't fly.
"Josh, I'm still gonna fall." Tyler said as he almost slipped, squeezing Josh's hands tighter. He was (for once) really glad it was cold in the rink, so Josh couldn't tell the difference between a blush and his skin's reaction to the frigid air around them. Sure, they had been friends for awhile now, but recently, sitting next to Josh and playfully batting at his arm when he wouldn't let Tyler win at any video game became a thing that would make his stomach flutter. He didn't really realize it until now, when they were in the dim light of the skating rink a couple blocks down from Josh's house.
"I got you. Don't worry-" The red haired boy was quickly cut off when Tyler's  skate decided to catch on a deep mark in the mangled ice, making him fall back and bring Josh with him. He was glad neither of them were going fast, so the fall wasn't very painful at all. Though, it did turn out to be a little awkward when Tyler realized Josh had fallen directly on top of him. He could feel his ears go hot as he opened his eyes, seeing the other man's face just inches from his own.
"U-uh s-sorry." Tyler whispered, the little white puffs of breath dissipating when they reached Josh's slightly flushed face.
"As I was saying a second ago, don't worry about it." He murmured back, the corners of his lips moving into a bigger smile. Tyler hoped to whatever was watching over him, that Josh didn't notice how flustered he was, or that he was staring. Tyler's lip was quivering slightly from the cold against his lower half, the skinny jeans really not helping at this point. He did notice that Josh's eyes were fixated on his, almost intently.
"You cold?" He asked in the same quiet tone he answered in, noticing Tyler's nearly chattering teeth. Tyler nodded at the inquiry, hoping his cheeks weren't growing darker, but that changed when Josh's warm lips touched his own. He was shocked at first, keeping himself still before relaxing into it, gently kissing back. Josh pulled away way too soon for Tyler's liking, making both of their eyes meet.
"Crap- uh- I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry." Josh said quickly, starting to sit back up.
"No! I mean, no, no, it's fine. I-I didn't mind at all." Tyler replied quietly, making Josh move his gaze back to him.
"Really? You're not gonna hate me or something?"
"O-of course not... I wouldn't mind if you did it again, in fact." Tyler trailed off as he shook his head, looking at the marred rink he was laying on.
"Well, maybe I will. Only if we get out of this freezing place, and get back to my house."
"Sounds like a deal." Tyler said through a chuckle, standing up with Josh's help, and slowly and crappily skating to the exit with him, with the hopes of getting another kiss, of course.
