Rose enters the school, hands clasped with her date, Leo. Her eardrums on the verge of bursting from the up to date pop music blaring from the Hall. She turns to smile at Leo but stops herself with the sight of him texting on his phone.
"Leo Is everything alright, you've been texting non stop for hours." She says anxiously
"Yeah... Just... Strict parents." He stammers whilst stuffing his phone in his tuxedo's pocket
Once they arrived at Prom they found their self in the middle of the dance floor with their peers. Kacey (Rose's best friend) was slow dancing with her long term boyfriend, Lawrence, beaming at him. Rose looked at Leo who seemed to be to distracted to dance with her. Not letting him ruin her night, she proceeds to dance on her own. She suddenly see's Archie walking towards her and glares with disgust. She vows to not allow her annoying twin brother to drive her off edge. She eventually finds him facing her, her hatred for him growing. He stares at her, looking at her up and down.
"Look what the cat dragged in sis." He smirked.
"Says the one who got scratched up by one last summer." Rose snarled.
Archie storms of to find his mate, Brandon as Rose stands there smiling, happy about her remark.
As Rose is slow dancing with Leo, her eyes wander to find Emma and her two minions strutting towards her. All the lonely bachelors eyes following Emma's every move. You could see her platinum blonde hair shining in the low light of the prom.
"Nice dress, was it on discount at Primark." Emma sneers, Esme and Lauren laughing with her.
"At least I didn't get mine from the thrift shop." Rose responds smiling to herself.
Emma glares at Rose, her fake tan skin glowing in the night. She whispers something to Emse, who laughs at the mysterious remark. They then made there way to Emma's boyfriend, Brandon
Rose hears laughs around her. She curiously turns to her right to find Isabelle (the schools nerd) on the floor weeping. She stops herself from saying anything from the sight of Leo making out with her best friend. She leaves distressed Isabelle and bolts towards them. Suddenly she feels someone tugging on the back of her dress. Rose turns slowly to find Ms. Smith glaring at her.
"No running in the hall!" She moans.
Not listening to her she continues her trek towards Kacey and Leo. Kacey stops once feeling someone ripping at her hair. She gasps at the sight of Rose standing there with an ugly look on her face. Before Rose can say anything the lights go out and a nearby scream echoes around the hall.
After what seems an eternity the lights switched back on. The teachers had vanished and as Rose turns to Kacey she see's her lifeless body on the floor, blood and Roses surrounding it. Rose can't help but allow a scream to slip from her mouth and a tear shed from her aqua eyes. Leo attempts to pull Rose into an embrace but Rose shakes him off vigorously, angry at his actions. Before he can apologies she dials 911, putting the phone to her ear. Rose groans as the call does not go through the due to poor connection. Whilst processing what happened she realises someone must have attempted to frame her. Looking closer she finds a note stuck to one of the roses. As she picks it up thorns cut her porcelain skin. She reads the note which says;
See how easy it is for me to get someone's blood,
Innocent Kacey's life ended with just one thud.
Solve my riddle now,
Or take your final bow.
Rose begins to panic, realising that every breath she takes could be her last. When she turns to find Leo, she realises he is not there. She knew she had to hide and her first instinct was to run into the schools stuffy cubicles. As She enters the female toilets, the two chaperoning teachers are lying on the floor, guns in their hand. It felt to Rose her stomach had sunk to her feet, she couldn't move. She shook them vastly screaming their names, praying that this isn't happening. Then she realises the killer couldn't have done this due to the fact of no roses being scattered around their bodies. Locking herself in a cubicle she has a moment of silence and then bursts out into tears.
After a few minutes two familiar voices are heard. It's Esme and Lauren, Emma's two minions.
"You know Lauren, if we murder her tonight we will probably get away with it." Esme says quietly.
"Are you insane, was it you who murdered that Kacey girl." Lauren responds.
"No, I didn't even know the girl. Anyway apparently that Rose girl killed her, did you see her body?" Esme replies.
"Yeah she was scattered with roses, pretty weird huh?" Lauren implies.
Their conversation is cut short when Emma screams out their names. Rose could hear the movement of them scurrying away. Realising everyone thinks she is a murderer she tells herself she will stay in this cubicle until the night is over. These thoughts however last only a few seconds as Rose hears Leo entering the bathroom screaming her name. She gets the mirror out of her clutch bag and wipes the mascara stains off her face. She then unlocks the cubicle and stands there, staring at him. He faces her a look of despair plastered on his face.
"I'm sorry, please Rose, forgive me!" He screams desperately.
After what had gone on that night, she couldn't hold a grudge so she forgave him quickly.
"Come outside Rose, somethings gone on." He says worriedly.
Rose looks at the teachers dead bodies one last time and nods. Leo looks at them two but doesn't take much notice. Rose becomes quite suspicious but follows him to the hall anyway. As they walk into the hall, Rose see's a sight she thinks she will never be able to get out of her head...
