The Runaways

My home pt.1

Mei Zito's pov

All I heard was crying and that's what got me up, pretty fast too. I ran downstairs to see my sperm donor (aka my dad,or Jerry) standing over my mother and my baby brother, Ben. I ran as fast as I can and stood in front of my mom.
"Move you stupid b**ch", Jerry, my father yelled.
Then he smacked me on my right cheek.
Disgust and anger took over my body. I spat in his face and kicking him in the groin, and at that moment everything stopped. Knowing what was to come, I whispered- yelled to my mom, "Go to my room and lock the door, hurry!".
I knew that if I don't get hit, my mom or even Ben might take the hits from the anger I had caused.
As my mom runs upstairs, Jerry recovers and stomps over to me. Looming over me, he lifts me up and hits me over, and over again. Yes, this has happened before but less brutal.
I realized that I'm now on the floor being kicked in my stomach and rib area. I cringe when I hear him laughing, knowing that he was actually enjoying this. Something is wrong with the man I once called dad.
I come back to reality when I hear the front door close, and when I felt no more kicks. I peak through one eye to see, Jerry gone and an empty living room.

I awoke to have so much pain rush through me. I remembered everything of what had happened hours ago. I look at my clock to see it was 4:00 in the morning. I get up softly, trying not to hurt my fresh bruises. I walk to my mom's room to see it empty and on her nicely made bed was a note. Dreading this day, that I knew from the start was going to happen. On the note it had said,
Dear Mei,
I'm sorry but I couldn't handle being a punching bag for your dad who has been cheating on me, and I on him for months now. I've moved to Europe with my boyfriend, Rick. Rick loves me and he has kids of his own. They're-

I couldn't read anymore. She left me to defeat the monster all alone. I hate her so much.
Suddenly, panic rushes over me, realizing that Ben is no where to be seen. I rush over to his room to see him watching cartoons. I smile at him and say
"Benny, do you want to move?"
He just nods his head and smiles happily. "Uhuh", is all he said before turning back to the tv.
That's when my phone rings, and was from my friend group chat.
