"Get out of here little girl. We don't need some lowlife hanging around here." The man basically growls at me. I take the cigarette from my mouth and blow the harsh smelling smoke into his face. He quickly waves his hands around and coughs lightly. "Get out."
"Fine. You could have asked nicely." I laugh and pick up my suitcase and guitar. "Didn't even want to stay here." The humid air outside hits me like a truck. It's extremely unpleasant and I hate it. I take another drag of the cigarette and sigh. Every hotel I've been to has rejected my presence and kicked me back out onto the streets. What an amazing first day in L.A. Not.
With a sigh, I start walking along the road again and catch a glimpse of myself in a store window. My black hair is pulled up into a ponytail and my bangs hang just above my eyes. I'm wearing a pair of denim shorts and a batman tank-top.
"Hey, girl can I get your number?" Some dude shouts from across the street. I roll my eyes and look over at him. The man has long blonde hair pulled up into a man bun and honestly looks like a hippie.
"Yeah, its 1-800-Fuck you," I reply and keep walking. His friends start laughing as I walk away from them. An apartment complex across the street catches my eye, and I decide to go see if they have any cheap places.
I throw my cigarette on the ground and step on it to put it out before walking across the street. Before I can go in someone bumps into me, hard, and causes me to stumble slightly. "Watch where you're going dick head," I say. He doesn't reply and just keeps walking.
"Hello ma'am how may I help you today?" A very short lady asks from behind the front desk. I set my stuff down and look at her.
"I wanted to see if you guys had any cheap apartments. I just moved here and I'm looking for a place to stay." She smiles and starts typing on her computer. Her smile falls and she looks up at me.
"I'm sorry but the cheapest apartment we have is six-hundred dollars a month." A groan escapes my throat as look around me. "Well, I guess I have to go find another place."
"I actually have an apartment here, it's three bedrooms but it's just me there. I could use a roommate to help out with the rent if you'd like to stay with me. The only downside is that I have a somewhat loud neighbor." She says quietly. I grin and shake my head.
"That would be great," I say as she smiles and looks at her watch.
"I have a break so I can take you up there if you'd like." I nod as she grabs her phone and a set of keys. "Follow me."
She starts walking over to an elevator as I follow her. She presses the third-floor button and the elevator starts to move. The girl has long brown hair and hazel eyes with white glasses, "So what's your name?" She asks.
"Clair, what about you?"
"Sapphire." She says. The elevator comes to a stop and the doors open. "I'll have to get another key made for you but until then you can just use mine," Sapphire says and hands me her keys.
"I'm gonna have to go back to work but my apartment is number is 345 on the right. Help yourself to whatever is in the kitchen and you can pick a room just not mine. You'll know where mine is." She says and pushes me out of the elevator. I walk down the hall and stop in front of the apartment she said was hers.
I unlock the door and walk inside. The living room has some nice furniture mostly consisting of the colors black and white. The kitchen is a little more colorful with granite countertops and rainbow cooking utensils. She has up some picture's of her and her family in the hallways. The first door I open turns out to be the bathroom. The next door opens up to a room with dark blue a purple curtains giving it a nice vibe. It's obviously Sapphire's room because her clothes are strewn on the floor along with some trash on the desk she has.
The next room is pretty bland. Only a bed, a dresser, and a desk occupies the space.
I'm pretty tired so I decide to take this room. I lay my suitcase on the bed and unzip it. First, I take my computer and microphone out. They're used to record songs that I post on YouTube. After that, I begin to unpack my clothes and put them away in the dresser.
After everything is put away I lay down on the bed and decide to try and sleep, but someone just has to be a dick and scream as loud as they possibly can.
I sit up and glare at the wall next to me. They start shouting all sorts of profanities causing me to get up. After walking out of the apartment I knock loudly on the door that the screaming is coming from.
"Hold on guys there's someone at the door." A guy says from inside. The door opens and I glare at the guy.
"Oh, it's you." I notice his blue hair from the guy that ran into me earlier.
"Sorry do I know you?" He asks.
"Yeah, you ran into me earlier you dick wad. Also, could you shut the fuck up? You're so loud I could probably hear you from the afterlife." I spit at him. He rolls his eyes at me and looks at something behind him.
"Yeah sorry I'm kind of busy so I don't really have time to take orders from a child."
I close my eyes and inhale deeply. Calm down, Clair. I open my eyes again and lean towards the guy.
"I'm not a little girl. So unless you feel like getting your ass kicked I suggest you shut the fuck up and not call me that again." I basically growl at him. With that, I turn around and walk back to Sapphire's apartment.
Fucking asswipe.
