A strange projectile landed near base 307. No survivors.
"Wait for me" Arthur yelled as he ran towards the helipad. Arthur is the closest thing I could call a friend. We first met in high school, he used to be a wanna-be jock but changed his mind after he found out to be a jock he needed to actually liked sports. He approached the helipad and began to climb it exhausted from running.
"Hey get your ass over here" I exclaimed with a half-grin on my face. Today was the first day of stationing. I couldn't believe it, it was the first day in 4 years they didn't have to wake up at 5 am each day just to lap around camp. He looked back at his crew, their faces as excited as his.
Arthur finally reached the raptor, he kneeled in exhaustion. "Get on, you are making us late". Arthur climbed the side of the ship as fast as he could. As soon as he stepped inside the door shut, and the engines roared. "Next time I won't be late sir" Author pleaded, "If you keep this up there won't be a next time, now sit" Captain Michael ordered. Arthur did as he was told and sat next to me on an empty chair.
"Hey Chris", Arthur said. "Hey" I responded taking my phone out. It was the first time I used it in 4 years since they didn't allow them back in camp.
Everything seemed unfamiliar, I didn't remember half the things that it did, only that it can make calls and send messages. Anything else was obsolete.
The engines stopped humming once we were in the air, instead a beeping noise came from the front and we zoomed through the landscape. The raptor had no windows, its speed didnt allow for them. The raptor was a fully armed transporting ship. It has two front rear plasma cannons, in the back it has four self-operating machine guns. The design of the raptor was sleek, designed to make minimal noise.
I snoozed off, the vibration of the ship setting me soundly asleep. Black turned to white as i opened my eyes. "What is going on" I asked as the ship went silent. It was hard to know when the raptor was stopped. The double doors opened revealing a reinforced steel building, the sides decorated with bullet proof glass. "We are finally here" Arthur exclaimed, standing up. I grabbed my bag and took a step outside, breathing the clean fresh air.

This is a short story I'm writing, I'm hoping to write a short 400 word chapter each day (if that is not possible I will try to update once every two days) leading to Christmas.
