THE BEGINNING

"So, you cook for him, wash for him, do his dishes and his dirt laundry," shrugged her friend - Tanya, "and yet you are just his friend."

"Yea, what's wrong in doing that," she said curling hair lock on her slender fingers as she typed a  message on her cellphone with other hand, "that's what friends are for, right?"

"Really?", said Tanya, "why are you so naive?"

"What exactly are you trying to prove here?" she said looking straight into her eyes.

"I mean who are you to him? Are you his mother? His girlfriend? Or his lover?" she questioned, "I mean clearly nobody has done that much for me girl, even as a friend." she said snapping her fingers in her usual sassy way.

"Oh now, come on! Don't you dare start again." she sat on the bench covering her face with her hands, "This love thing between us - ain't happening ever!"

"We'll see my love." she said, "Because I know you are going to fall hard in love , and by hard I mean really really hard."

"You aren't going to stop, are you?" she jumped off the bench, adjusted her backpack and started walking.

"Those who deny love, fall for it in an unexpected way." she shrugged.

She looked back at her but before she could answer back, her eyes stopped on the couple kissing passionately under a tree. She sighed and sadly turned her face away. There was a time when she too longed for love, the love which is told in fairy tales, the perfect one. But now she didn't believe in love, it isn't like she didn't like to be loved or cared ,it isn't that she is against love but the scars of the past that haunts her dreams is the reason. She was once in love and that love had only given her pain in return and nothing else. To protect herself she had dared herself never to fall in love again.

It's Saturday night, the club is packed, everyone is having a high time on the dance floor, a young man, in his mid-twenties, is making way through the crowd. He is quite tall, broad shouldered, by looks he is rough and tough, seemingly not so handsome. He tries to mingle with the girls but his looks just turned them away.

"Chicks here are too hard to get." he sighed.

He made his way to the bar and ordered a beer. He looked at the dance floor in dismay. "What a night!" he murmured. "Everyone else is having a great time and alas, here I'm all alone by myself drinking a beer."

He finished his beer, tipped the bartender, picked up his keys and wallet, and was about to turn when he was pushed by someone.

"I'm so sorry." a cheerful female voice said.
