Chapter 2 - The other side of the screen

Maka's POV

I saw the user _ReaperTeenager_ go offline. I leaned back aginst my chair with Blair in my lap. I could hear Soul snoring in the other room. " maybe I should go to sleep." I held up Blair in my arms and left her on my seat. I turned my laptop off feeling a little bit scared because I didn't know who they were. 

Next day 

I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for class. As I got dressed in my uniform as Blair streched out on the edge of my bed in her cat form. She asked me "Maka what were you playing last night? You stayed up for quite a bit." I grabbed my bag and filled it with my homework and books. Blair jumped onto my desk and laid next to my laptop. "Maka you're forgot something." I turned and shoved it into my bag. I opened my door and went down the hall  with Blair. I pounded on Soul's door as I shouted "Come on Soul we're going to be late for graduation." Blair ran up to catch up with me as I walked fast around the apartment. "Maka, you didn't answer me. What were you doing last night ?" She paused as I was about to close the front door. I put a finger to my lips, "It's a secret." 

I ran down the streets that passed my apartment, dozens of them, but they all looked different then each other. I carried my bag on my shoulder with my phone in my hand. I looked up and saw that the acadamy was ahead. I made it in class a bit early and took out my laptop. Soul nor stein where in class so I could do anything. There were a couple of students but they were studying. I logged in on my game and I looked to see if  the player, _ReaperTeenager_ was online. They weren't but I just ended up going to a small village to collect my reward for battling in a small fight aginst a powerful enemy.  

I saw Kid come in with his school bag and his laptop in his hands. Liz and Patty weren't with him. He sat down at his normal desk below me. He opened his account and paused for a second. I felt as if he felt me looking up at me. I turned my head away fast as he looked at me. My face was red as I lowered down my head behind my screen. Full of embrresment. Kid smiled as he turned to face me. "Hey Maka what's up?" 'Dang it, he saw me' I thought as I looked over at him. I smiled back at him. "Hi Kid I'm just playing a game online. " Kid nodded "Me too, you know to pass the free time." He put an earbud in and started to play his game. I put my face down to my laptop and saw that the player was online. I looked at kid and it felt as if he was playing the same game as me. I looked over to Kid's computer as I lifted myself over my desk to tap him on the shoulder. 

"Okay class take out your textbooks and your test corrections. " Said Stein as he entered the class. Kid closed his laptop and greeted Liz and Patty. I put my laptop away and took out my notes. Soul sat down beside me looking tiered. 

Death the kid's POV

As I saw Patty and Liz sitting down beside me. "Hey Kid why didn't you wait till we we'er done finish getting dressed?" I turned to face them, "Sorry Stein told me if I was late any more I was going to get detention." Liz smiled at him, "You are weird you know that but still a great friend." I  saw Maka frown and set her head down onto her desk. It looked as if Liz's words hurt her in some way. Stein walked in between each of the rows to collect our corrections. Patty handed him a crippled up paper which made Stein grossed out. He collected our papers and went up to the next row where Maka and Soul where. 

Maka's POV 

"Why did I get sad when Liz and Patty came? I shouldn't be jealous of their relationship with Kid, but I still am." I thought as I covered my face with my glove. Soul grabbed my paper and handed it to professor Stein. "Thanks," I said trying not to sound sad. As class continued I was using my laptop for my research or that is what Professor Stein was thinking. I had a link open for my book I was supose to be on and a separate tab open for the game -Game of the meisters-. Me and the other player where getting along for a while and started to get a plan for the next level. We exchanged a few weapons and extra supplies. I smiled at the thought of becoming friends. As we were fighting off an ambush the other player's connection went off. Which meant I had to fight off the rest of the group on my own. I looked up and saw some students leaving the room. Kid's laptop slammed shut which made me jump. He was still siting down with Liz's hand on his laptop. "Come on Liz I was almost done." Liz grinned, "Kid we'er going to miss the ceremony if we are late."
