...May
"Last day of your sophomore year!" My step mom, Jen, cheeses as she takes my picture.
I wasn't even dressed up. Literally in my pajamas.
"I'll get you at 1:30," she says as we slide into the car. I nod, half awake. "Are you going to finish packing when you get home? Your dad is getting the uHaul next week."
"Yeah, I just have a few more things strung around," I reply. "Ok, don't forget!"
"I won't," I smile exhaustedly, "I promise."
Once I got to school, I met up with my best friend, Cole. He was a tall, skinny guy. Very pale and had black hair that he would slick up. Trying to impress any guy he can get ahold of, as long as they were younger than him.
"You gonna score with the boys up there, Katie?"
"I'm not really worried about that. I'm not you," I chuckle and search the halls with my lurking eyes as we walk to Algebra.
"But you're hot! You gotta find a guy." He says, almost offended.
"I'm trying to still get Mason off of my back. For real," I roll my eyes, "the kid won't leave me the hell alone!"
I've grown to hate his face. Mason was my very recent ex whom I'd dated for two years. I just wanted to punch him now.
Lunch rolled around fast. This was my last thing school related until next year. I meet up with Cole and my other friend, Carissa, and we headed to the lunch room.
We sat down at our usual lunch table with our other two friends, Renee and Sarah, when my phone buzzed.
From: Mason.
Wanna go to Junee Bs?
I roll my eyes and sigh. I was starving and really wanted a milkshake, at least. Junee B's was a little food stand that only opened in the summer time. They had the best food.
To: Mason
Fine. But you're paying.
I grab my bag and head the back way to the parking lot. We could leave anytime at this school. They could afford good cameras, but it's not like they actually cared.
I make my way up to his little red toy car and get in.
"Your car is still ugly," I say as I buckle up, "just don't kill me."
"Oh shut up. I'm not going to kill you."
God, it's only a 3 minute ride but it will feel like 20.
Get me out of this shitty town.

The day finally rolled around. I was getting to meet my new coaches and see my new school!
It was about a 4 and a half hour ride up there, but I didn't mind traveling it with Jen. She is pretty laid back.
We pull up to the parking lot. "Rowentown High School..." I whispered to myself. It was huge!
I hesitantly go up to the building with Jen. We go into the office and ask for a tour. The woman behind the desk called up someone and told us to sit while someone gets us.
Before we could, a heavier set woman walks through the
"Hi! You must be Katie! I'm Kimberly!" She sang. She had a huge bright smile on her face but I couldn't quit looking at her colorful hair.
"I will be your coach, but I also work here!"
I smile at her and nod. She tells us to follow her into the rotunda where some girls were drawing on large pieces of paper. I start chatting with them, explaining where I came from and the team I came from.
"Oh you can't imagine how much of a cheer nazi James is. That's the other coach by the way." One of the girls laughs.
I laugh and disagree. My coach was awful. No one can beat her.
I zoned out until a tall bald man comes up. He was wearing a sweater vest and jeans. His dimples were so deep, you could store water in them. He introduced himself as the other coach and Kimberly's husband. I shook his hand and introduced myself. We started chatting about summer practice and games. He told me more about the school along with the girls working on the signs.
I overheard Kimberly telling Jen about her family. I knew she had three boys, but I don't really know what they look like. The pictures I've seen are outdated.. like, 2012 outdated.
"Maybe he will help you for the first few days!" Kimberly cheered.
I'd rather just figure it out but you never know, I may need the help.
As Jen and I said goodbye and started toward our car, I couldn't stop getting knots in my stomach. They were probably here to stay too.
Well, here goes another year.
*** I apologize for the short chapter, but it gets better! Thank you so much for looking into my first chapter and I hope you enjoy! Please don't forget to rate and comment, I appreciate it so much! Xoxo***
