it was raining the day i told him.

the car had finally rumbled to

life and we were racing down the open

road to a whole new world

of possibilities.

of new love

and new memories.

it was a new path and

it tasted good.

but i glanced back, something

you always hear not to do.

i glanced back and was filled

with visions of you.

the windshield was foggy and as

wet as my eyes

because i thought i knew what i wanted,

and i was so foolish to think that wasn't you.

i screamed for him to stop

and he veered off the road.

and when he looked at me

i didn't see you

and i so badly wanted it to be you.

i told him i was sorry

and he asked me why.

my reply was short and simple and vague,

but he understood.

"it's him."
