Setting: Abigail Adams High. History Class.

It was Junior year for the clique six at Abigail Adams High. Two years ago Sarah and her dad had held auditions to cast a movie Sarah had written. The Hart of the Hunter was premiering tonight, and Katy had been cast in the lead role she was literally born to play. The whole school was abuzz with excitement. Farkle's dad, Stuart, had arranged for a couple of Limos; so they could all arrive to the premier in style.
The class took their usual seats. On the board it simply said: Shakespeare. Farkle shook his head in amazement, "You do know you teach history, Hambone?" Zay nodded as he chuckled, "Mr. Mathews, you going to relate this to what's going on in our life?" Cory put his hand on his heart in feined insult, "I would never...In Shakespeare's time there were players and jesters that would perform for the royal courts. They would often enact parts of what was actually happen at the time in the dramatic or a satirical way. For instance in Hamlet, the melancholy dane used the play to trap the King and Queen for his father's murder. Maya, what did Katy tell you when you wanted to be Riley."
Maya peered up from her mass of blond waves. "She said to be careful. Sometimes when you become someone else you learn a truth about them they may not even know." Cory nodded, "You all will be in this movie. Sarah as writer, as an observer of this class may see a part of your story you haven't discovered yet." As Cory said this he looked intently between Riley and Farkle. Riley sat innocently in her usual chair at the front of the room in her favorite purple sweater dress and orange leggings. "Oh daddy it's a movie premier, and we are all going as friends. What could possibly go wrong."
Mr. Mathews sighed. "Riley believe it or not life sometimes has twists and turns you won't see coming." As he said this Cory once again glanced between Riley and Farkle. Farkle blurted, "Farkle always see's things coming." Zay contradicted Farkle cautiously, "Except that one time with Red Planet Diaries..Even you didn't see that comi..." Farkle erupted like a volcano bubbling over, "We don't talk about that. We never talk about that. We are never mentioning that again." Cory nodded in resignation, "Class dismissed." Smackle interrupted, "A sir? There's 40 minutes still...." The glass groaned and threw wads of paper. Undeterred Cory continued to gather up his briefcase, "I said dismissed." Riley glanced and Farkle and smiled tonight was going to be great.

Few hours laters at the Mathews appt.

Zay, Lucas, and Farkle arrived to pick up Izzy, Maya and Riley for the premier. The girls had spent the afternoon getting ready together. Zay brought Izzy pink sweetheart roses that matched her A-Line dress perfectly. Farkle got flowers for both Riley and Maya because he had always promised to love them both equally. For Maya he got yellow roses that complemented her blue sweetheart neckline ball gown well. He looked expectantly around the mathew's living room, "Where's Riley?"
As he said this Riley came floating out of her room. She wore a purple Cinderella gown with orange roses in a wreath in her hair. Her hair cascaded in gentle curls framing her face. Farkle's breath hitched at the mere sight of her. He held out her purple and orange roses he had picked just for her. Riley skipped up to Farkle; and, Farkle spied her orange ballet slippers. He couldn't help the smile that broke out on his face. Riley still hadn't gotten over her first attempt at high heels, and he loved that even all dressed up she was still his Riley. Um..Riley..she was still Riley.
She looked up at Farkle, "Oh, Farkley! They are beautiful. Are they for me?" Farkle regained his composure quickly, "Of Cour.."
Zay interjected, "Zay time, ouch!" Zay rubbed his arm and looked poutilly at his girlfriend. "Hey, just because you two are the genius' of the group doesn't mean I don't know stuff. I know stuff. Like he says he loves them both the same but yellow roses mean friendship and purple mean love at fir..."Lucas wrapped his arm around Zay's mouth saving him from himself. "Why don't we save the Botany lesson for later." Zay nodded in understanding. Farkle cleared his throat, and handed the flowers to Riley. Her answering smile made him gulp. "They're perfect Farkley."

The Movie Premier. Sunshine Cinema, New York, USA

Riley and Farkle set next to each other in the theater, because Riley was the only one who didn't want to kill Farkle when he abruptly shouted out the endings to movies. In fact Riley hadn't admitted it to anyone, but she had come to love it. She started making a game out of trying to figure out the movie before he did. He usually beat her but occasionally if feelings were involved, Riley would have the upper hand. At those rare moments, she would usually triumphantly stage whisper the ending to Farkle.
Farkle and Riley sat watching the previews of coming attractions. They shared popcorn and Swedish fish because Farkle knew it was Riley's Favorite movie snack. They both reached into the popcorn at the same time, and ended up grabbing hands. Riley was glad the theater was already dark; so, Farkle couldn't see her blush. In her mind Riley heard the memory of her father talking, "...Which leads to dating, which leads to movies, which leads to popcorn, which leads to putting your hands together in the popcorn, which leads to holding hands." Riley giggled at the random memory that had flashed before her eyes, and the unexplainable feeling that she was a 7th grade girl with a crush on the cute boy next to her. She barely heard Farkle's whispered response, "That is still my favorite sound in the world." Riley scrunched her eyebrows together trying to understand these thoughts and feelings that seemed to be rising like the sun on brand new day.
As she sat there with Farkle watching The Hart of the Hunter, Riley was drawn to Smiley and Farkle Poopy Pants McStupid Head. She watched silently in awe..... "Farkle...Do you know what's going to happen...Smiley and Farkle end up together." Farkle did a double take in Riley's direction, "Wh, What? How could you possibly see that coming?" Riley smiled, "Because its inevitable."
Still in the theatre..Movie has ended. Only Farkle and Riley Remain.
Farkle and Riley sat in silence in the empty theater. Riley could feel Farkle's tension radiating off him. "Farkle?" Farkle shot up and paced in the row. "I didn't see that coming. How could I not see it coming. Your dad tried to warn us in class. Riley...I...love you and Maya...equally..." Farkle abruptly stopped pacing and nervously pulled at his hair with both hands. Riley stood and grabbed Farkles hands. "Calm down Farkle, or you're going to pass out." She felt his tension relax as she held his hands. She had never noticed before that she could calm him with just one touch.
She tilted her head and smiled. It had always been Farkle. She just hadn't been ready to see it before. She had thought she wanted the pretty package wrapped with bows and ribbon, but it had been Farkle she had been drawn to all along. Now she just hoped she was right and he loved her too.
"You never lied Farkle. You always said you would love us equally. So, can I ask you a few questions." Farkle took a deep breath steadying himself and nodded for Riley to continue. "What is 5+5?" Farkle eye narrowed in confusion, "Riley you want a math lesson now? I thought we were more important to you than that?" Riley squeezed Farkles hands and stepped closer never looking away from his eyes. "Do you trust me Farkley?" Farkle's, "Always," left his mouth instantly. Riley beamed, "Good than what is 5+5?" Farkle still looked confused but answered tentatively, "10?" Riley nodded, "And what is 7+3" Farkle gasped, "10." Riley stepped closer to Farkle, "So you would agree both equations are equal but not the same." Farkle's smile made Riley's breath hitch, "Why Ms. Mathew's maybe you are a killer shark lawyer after all...but I don't even think I know what love is. How do I know if I love you?"
Riley put her arms around Farkles neck, "All I know is you and I belong together. I have always wanted to be around you and make you laugh. Always. Always wanted to take care of you." Farkle wrapped his arms around Riley's waste and she felt whole. "Is that what love means...Riley. I love you too." Riley tilted her head and leaned in whispering, "I was hoping you did." They kissed and the house lights dimmed in the theater. They both knew their story hadn't begun there; It was when they were six and a princess found her hero...
