Katie stared out her car window, watching trees go by. They where all leafless and brown, winter trees. She'd lived her whole life in California, where it never snowed, but now, she was in Colorado. Her heart had dropped when she found out she was moving. It meant leaving friends behind. It meant leaving him behind. She put her head against the window, closing her eyes in the hopes that all of this was a dream.

It wasn't.

Her father shook her awake, startling her out of a dream, a real one. One with him. Katie got out of her father's truck, her legs numb and tingly from hours of sitting. Looking up, she hoped that they'd finally reached their new home.

Her heart sank again, just another hotel.

Her father grabbed their bags from the truck bed and carried them inside, proceeding to check into a room. When Katie took the key, they went in an elevator up to the fifth floor. Her father dumped the bags on the floor near the room, going into the kitchen to see if they had anything to cook. Katie immediately went into the living room, taking off her shoes and stretching. Her arm reached above her head, as though she where a priest giving a speech about God, and getting passionate. Something cold touched her skin and made her shiver. She reached into her sweater and pulled it out.

It was the locket he had given her when they first got together.

She bit her lip and blinked a few times to keep from crying. She was 17, she shouldn't be this emotional about things! Her father came in and pulled out his phone, muttering something about pizza.  Katie nodded and sat on the couch, picking up the page filled with channels for the TV. She gasped upon reading 'Free Wi-fi' and pulled out her phone, tapping in the code.

Her phone vibrated as he received texts from friends and him,  varying from last week to yesterday or that morning. Tapping on her texting app, she set to replying to all of them. It was about 3 AM, so none of them where awake. Except one.

Hey babe, I know you're probably still driving to Colorado but I wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I'm about to write and about to send, I'm sorry that you have to move.

Look, I love you. I've loved you for two and half years. Since freshman year, Katie. FRESHMAN YEAR!! You always find ways to make me smile or laugh, even when I'm grumpy or upset. I love you, and don't forget that.

The reason I wrote all of that is because people usually say bad news before god news.

Katie... I can't do long distance. I'm sorry, but we're on hold until you come back, which will be in a few years, I know it.

Katie felt her eyes fill with tears as she watched the 'typing' symbol. She knew it would happen, but she hadn't thought this soon. The text went through, and she read it.

Which is why I followed you all the way to your new hotel, and I'm even going all the way to Colorado with you. Go into the lobby, I'll see you there! <3

Her heart leaped out of the pit of despair she had fallen into, a smile spreading across her face.

"Dad... I need to go to the lobby." Katie looked up at the bearded man who'd filled in her mother's spot since she'd passed.

"Go. He's waiting." His voice was gruff but tender, he knew she loved that boy.

Katie shoved her shoes back on and raced out of the room, taking a copy of the room key with her. When she got in the elevator, she was shaking. She was so happy that he was there, that he was following her. When the doors clicked open, she raced out, accidentally cutting some people off. She yelled "sorry!" over her shoulder and looked around. There where still a lot of people, though it was so early in the morning. There! Her eyes locked with his and she raced up to hug him. They held each other for a while, silent, both of them crying and smiling.

"I love you too, Justin."
