I stepped out of the taxi and looked around, the town hasn't changed much since I left two years ago. Before I could even reach the steps to the house, my dog June came charging at me. I pet her and lead towards to the door. My mother opened the door with one of the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. She hugged me and squeezed me tight saying "welcome home baby!"
"Hey mom, I missed you, how you been doing?" She sighed as we went in the house together. She closed the front door and said "I'm doing better now since my son is home." I smiled, one thing I know is that my mother loves me and regardless of my fuck ups, she sees pass them and still love me the same. She went in the kitchen and said "You know I cooked your favorite right? Now go on ahead and get settled in and wash up for dinner." I shook my head, my mother stays in the kitchen. I told her one day she should own her own restaurant but she tells me thats never going to happen. I got up and head towards my old bedroom.
Everything still looks the same, except my bed. My mother must have made it up when I left. But other than that, everything else seems untouched. I sat on my bed and took a minute to take everything in. I looked at my dresser and something caught my attention. It was a birthday card. I opened it and when I read the first sentence, I knew exactly who it was from. I laid back on the bed with the card still in my hand and I begin to go back down memory lane.
Two years ago
"You said, you promised! How can you just dump me like this?" Ashley cried as we stood outside the building where I worked. I hated it when she cried, I never wanted to cause this. But between her family drama and me, I couldn't take it anymore. I felt that if I broke up with her, things would get better for the both of us.
"Look Ashley, I love you and nothing will ever change that, but I need some space and some time to figure shit out. Plus, you need to do some growing up. You allow your family to decide shit for you, when you should open up your mouth and speak up. It basically looks as if you don't even want to stand up to your family about me." I looked at her and she held her head down and continued to cry. "I care about you, but I rather be friends with you."
Ashley wiped her tears with her sweater and looked at me and said "I don't want to be friends to someone I have loved since my childhood years." She shook her head and said "I don't wanna be friends with you, so I guess this is a goodbye." She started to race off before I could even grab her. She got in her car and drove off, leaving my behind with a tear streaming down my face.
Present
I opened up my eyes and felt a teardrop fall from my eye. After that night Ashley sped off in the car, I went out of state. It took me two years to realize that I made a mistake and I had to fix them before its too late.
My phone vibrated and I looked at it to see it was my girlfriend, Gab. I met her when I went out of state. We got attached quickly because of the many similarities we had in common. I ignore the call. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her right now. I went in the bathroom and washed my hands and went in the kitchen to dine with my mother. One of my main reasons to be back home is tell Ashley how much I do love her, and how sorry I am for leaving her behind like I did. Hopefully she will forgive me and we can pick up where we left off.
