*Bucky's P.O.V*
"Uh, Bucky?" Said Sam wearily from across the room.
It's been a week since Claire left and with no solid lead on where she's gone I haven't been able to go looking. Not everyone is still on board with going after her.
"You're gonna wanna see this," he continued with his eyes glued to the screen. As I got near I could hear the news anchor and I braced myself for the worst. . .
"This just in! Baron Zemo has been broken out of a maximum security prison by none other than former avenger, Claire Doyle, or as most of you know her: The Nyx."
"No, no, no, no, no, no," I mumbled to myself as I took a seat next to Sam and continued to watch the broadcast. If the rest of the team wasn't on the edge about her before I guess this completely tips the scale.
"Security footage from just an hour ago shows her breaking the prisoner out while leaving a bloody trail of injured police guards in her path. All of them are being hospitalized and special task forces are being set out to look for Doyle and Zemo as we speak. So far her whereabouts and reasons for this crime are unknown."
"Bucky, we gotta find her quick," Sam spoke and I nodded while running a hand through my hair. This was about to get uglier really soon.
I turned the tv off not being able to hear anything else they had to say about her.
"How the hell am I going to do that, though?" I silently asked.
A Week Later
T'Challa had someone go through security footage of the whole prison, of traffic cams nearby, even tried talking to the injured guards. Nothing. No one had seen her.
I was trying to choke down my breakfast when I heard Steve arguing in a different room.
"What are you doing here?!" He questioned some one who I couldn't see. "How did you even find this place?!" There was silence as a response and I heard footsteps growing louder coming in my direction.
I really don't need this. First my girlfriend says no to my proposal, then she blows up a building, then runs away with a terrorist group, and then breaks a psycho out of jail. I don't want to deal with anyone's problems while I'm eating my Frosted Flakes!
I look up and almost threw my god damn Frosted Flakes across the room. Almost.
"Relax," said none other than Tony Stark. "I'm not here to fight you today. I came because I have news on Claire."
Steve and I's eyes widened. "Why didn't you tell me that when you walked in?" Steve asked. He rolled his eyes and ignored the question.
I walked over to him, eager to listen. Tony cleared his throat.
"A couple hours ago, a frequency was picked up by the tower and I think Clare sent it," he explained. "How?" Steve asked, skepticism laced all over his voice. "It was morse code. Remember how Natasha used it when she was captured by Ultron?"
"What did she send?" I asked. Tony looked at me and pulled out his phone for me to read the screen.
Tony Stark. I'm in Germany. Help
A chill ran down my spine while a sense of relief washed over me. She didn't go back to Hydra. Claire is still one of us.
"How do we know this isn't a trap?" Steve asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Does it matter?" I interrupted. "Either way it's a lead. The only lead we've got and if there's even the smallest chance that she's there then I have to be there. Claire's in trouble and I can't stand to lose her again, Steve."
Tony cleared his throat. "I'm having HAPPY run a tracking signal on the message but it will take a while."
"Why are you helping us, Tony?" I asked. He sighed, "I'm not helping you." I was not genuinely surprised by his answer. "I'm helping, Claire," he continued, "So don't think I'm done with you."
At this point I didn't care if Tony Stark hated me. "Thank you," I said to him.
Three Days Later
*Claire's P.O.V*
In the week and a half that I've been with Zemo, I've been forced to kill five people already. Two guards men, and three civilians. Each with their own lives, their own stories to tell that will never be heard because I've ripped out the pages and burned them.
"You see, Nyx," Zemo had told me as soon as we had arrived in Germany, "I did a lot of thinking in prison. All of that time alone really allows one to sit and think. I was going to kill myself and be reunited with my family, did you know that? But then I thought, why not avenge them instead? Sort of makes me an avenger in my own right don't you think? You see, I am not the only one who harbors a hate for the Avengers. So if I can rally them all together, who can stop us?"
Needless to say that solitary didn't do him any good.
But I began to worry. I had sent my message three days ago. It was concise and to the point. Any larger would've been detected here.
Yet it has been three days and nothing has happened. No one has arrived and I fear that I will now be forced to kill with a conscience mind. It was better in Hydra, I'd think. At least there I wasn't in control of the deaths I'd make.
And then I heard it. The beautiful sound of the alarm that meant trouble.
And no one knew trouble better than my boys.
