Everything was set. Ready. All I needed to do was act.
This is the stupidest thing you've ever done, you know that right?

Yeah I did. But god it was worth whatever the hell would happen to me.

All Nyx had been doing for days was training. Hydra's been working her around the clock, making sure that she remains their perfect soldier when I can't.
Whatever drugs they pumped in her to make her forget me worked extra well. Normally when they do this, I'd have a faint recollection of everyone who's been with me recently. But Nyx only seems to hate me. Like its her job to hate me. We haven't talked since she attacked me in her room and every single day I miss her more. If I lost her I don't know what I'd do here. Oddly enough the thought of losing her also rings a disturbing bell in my head.
I'd give anything to get her back. You better believe that I'd blow up this entire god damn organization for only one more genuine kiss.

I'd even accept a glance not filled with poison

But I didn't have the time to dwell on my broken heart. Getting her out was my most important mission. The only thing I needed now was a doctors note.
So I grabbed my knife and made a singular, large, and quite messy gash on my side.

Blood was oozing out of me quickly but I knew I could make it to Williams. Luckily, no on payed attention to me struggling down the hallways with blood dripping all the way down my legs. Everywhere I walked, I left a trail of blood drops every now and then.
Almost falling through the doctors office door, I staggered inside while receiving a confused look by Max.
"Soldier," she said calmly getting supplies to patch me up. "What happened? You have no assigned missions at the moment." I only grunted in response and continued to play the part of the wounded animal she thought I was. Once she turned around to get supplies, I aimed my metal fist to her head and hit hard enough to knock out.

She hit the floor with a thud and I saw the faintest color of red on my hand. I only stared at it thinking of all the countless other times I had gotten somebody else's blood on it. It's times like this when I need Nyx the most.

Your arm does not define you, she'd say. It doesn't make you broken, or a murderer, or any less of a man. As long as you do what is right, the only difference between this arm and the other one is that this one weighs slightly more.

Her words bring a sad smile to my face. I'd love to hear her soft voice or feel her fingers through my hair again. I clenched my fist. I was doing the right thing. And besides, Williams was still alive. Going back to my plan, I searched the cabinets and drawers for any kind of drugs that could knock a person out. After a couple tries, I finally found syringes filled with chloral hydrate. I took one and injected it into Williams' neck to make sure that she wouldn't wake up anytime soon. The other ones I just kept gripped carefully in my hand.

Now all I had to do was wait. Over the past week and a half, I've been studying Nyx's routines. I figured out that right after training she has to report to Williams for a physical examination. She should be done any minute now so all I have to do is be patient.

30 minutes later

I've been swirling on the chair for a while now bored out of my mind. I had managed to stuff Williams' unconscious body in the nearby closet so Nyx would be suspicious right away. I looked up at the clock on the wall and decided to hide behind the door like she had done when she attacked me. How ironic
Any minute now she would show up,

And I was correct. I could hear the faint trail of delicate footsteps getting louder and louder until finally they stopped at the door. She opened it and walked right in. She instantly tensed, knowing that I was there. I shut the door before she could run out and lunged at her.
"What the hell are you doing?!" She yelled, swiftly getting out of the way. I only ignored her and moved again. She moved under my arm and kicked my wounded side harshly. I hissed at the pain but decided to ignore it and again I lunged. She moved out of the way of my blow but not fast enough for me to grab onto her long ponytail. I tugged at it and she yelped as I threw her against the wall. I used the rest of my body to keep her pinned. Her terrified eyes never left mine. I felt a surge of guilt hurting her. The way she looked at me was the look I get from my targets. It made me sick. But I shook my head and got it together. I was doing all of this to save her from future pain.

"I'm sorry about this," I whispered as I plunged the drugs into her neck. In a matter of seconds she went limp in my grasp and I grabbed her before she could fall to the ground. I let out a breath and carried her bridal style out of the room, making sure no one could see me. This was probably the last time I'd ever hold her in my arms. I tried to not let that though slow me down.

I walked until I reached the stairs which were the safest option to where I needed to go. Officers tended to use the elevators more than the stairs anyways. Carrying her body, I made my way down several flights of stairs. My destination was the underground systems. Once there I could get a bike that I stashed down there a few days ago and drive her far away. I made sure that the motor cycle was de-Hydra'd so we wouldn't get tracked.

When we finally reached the level, the security alarm started to blare out the signal. I had about 20 minutes to get us out of here. I readjusted Nyx over my shoulder and started to run towards the vehicle. Once on it, I made sure to put her in front of me to make sure she wouldn't fall of in her state. The bike roared to life and we sped down the underground tunnels. This would buy us some time but I needed to get us out. See, these tunnels were like sewer systems only with a different kind of scum underneath. I only needed to find the nearest exit.
It took me ten more minutes before I did. The alarms were still ringing but I knew I had time before they would even realize where we are. I hoisted Nyx on my back and started to climb up some stairs to the outside world. I heard her mumble incoherent words which meant I had to act fast. We emerged in a forest. I didn't know what else is expect to be honest. Didn't matter now though, I had to keep moving. I ran and ran until I saw an area that we would be shielded by trees and large rocks. I set Nyx down carefully and kneeled in front of her. She was starting to stir awake and I put my human hand to her soft cheek. Oh how I'd give anything to kiss her. She opened her eyes and they slowly widened when they saw me. Nyx tried to get up but the drugs in her system weren't getting her very far. It would be a while until she could walk properly. I took this opportunity to say my goodbye.

"Listen to me," I said sternly. She kept trying to leave so I held her in place and forced her to pay attention. "Hydra is not who they say they are.they are evil and cruel. They've done terrible things to you and to me alike. Don't trust them. When you can finally get up I want you to remember something. Your name is Claire Allison Doyle. And hydra took that away from you a long, long time ago. Do not trust them and for the love of god don't come back." When I finished her eyes gave away how lost and confused she looked. I knew that feeling all too well. But I had to leave. "I love you so much," I said to her, looking at her weak body hidden by the trees.

I ran back to the tunnels. Down the ladder and back onto the bike. I felt hot tears stream down my face. I had succeeded in getting her out. But if I had gone with her, they would've been able to find us easily. So I rode and rode past five other exits. One I got to one father away I got out of it and created a fake trail in the other side of the forest. Content with my work, I went back down and onto the motorcycle.

I didn't even ride for five minutes before I felt a gunshot would pierce through my shoulder and was thrown off the bike.
