James and Amelia. He was a year and two months older. A year, two months, and 9 days to be exact. He was in high school, freshman year. She was in eighth grade, just learning about relationships. He had never been in one either but he was already basically dating another eighth grader. Sage and James had confessed that they like each other a year earlier. They didn't go out yet because James thought it better that they wait until high school where age doesn't matter. Amelia knew about this and yet, she answered his text.

November 17, 2015. 4:04 P.M. At mathletes.

James came back to junior high every Thursday just so that he could be a part of this nerdalicious team. Who knew why. Was it the teacher? The math? Or perhaps the fact that he had convinced Sage to join. It was one of his only chances during the week to see her. Totally romantic, right? But then, he sat by Amelia. Amelia had known him for at least three years. They had been in 3 plays together, but then again, so had Sage. They were familiar enough with each other for it not to be awkward. They talked. He threw chocolates at her to make her laugh. She tried to throw one back but hit the top of Mr. Harlot's balding head. James and Amelia dispersed into laughter.

"Kids, do not throw your brain food." That's Mr.Harlot's way of saying candy. He rubbed his hairless scalp as he handed out the practice test. "This test will consist of 2 questions. You will be given 6 minutes to solve them. Do not compare answers until I pick them up."

Isabelle raised her hand and Mr.Harlot nodded in her direction. "Will we be able to use calculators?"

"Good question Miss Williams. No, you may not use calculators on this portion of the test. Any other questions?" he looked around. Nobody raised their hand. "Good. You may begin... NOW."

Amelia began to struggle on the first question so she moved onto the second. Nice and easy. She scribbled in her answer; $200. She went back and completed the first question with time to spare. Suddenly, her phone gave a ding  sound.

Message from James Kyring.

James: What did you get for the questions?

Amelia hesitated before answering.

Amelia: 4/10 and $200 but I think they are wrong.

Amelia: What about you?

James: I'll tell you that I got one of those answers. Not telling which one.

Amelia: I dare you to tell me.

James: I got 1/10. For the first one.

Amelia: Uh, how?

James goes on to explain how he got the answer to the problem. They talked for a while after that until Amelia's instagram started glitching too bad. She sent him one last message.

Amelia: Can you text me at 864-297-4*** please? My instagram isn't working that well.

A few minutes later...

DING DING

*message from unknown number*

"I mean, I CAN text you at this number."

Amelia smiled to herself. She knew this was the start of something awesome.

A/N: OKay guys so I know this is short but the idea popped into my head so suddenly and I didn't want to lose it. There will be a longer chapter when I update it next time. I know I hardly ever update any of my stories anymore. That is because I simply do not have enough time in the day, and I apologize. ENJOY!
