The beginning of my 8th grade year. Things were gonna go great for me, I just knew it. Summer had just ended and I was ready for what this year had to offer. I was packing my bag in my room, preparing for school tomorrow. I had double checked that I had everything, and was triple checking just to be sure. "Sera, do you want help with choosing your outfit for tomorrow?" my mom asked as she walked in.
"No Mom, I think I got it. Thanks though." I said, zipping my bag. I took my bag on my bed, settling it on my desk. I opened my desk and took out a few fresh saxophone reeds. That's what I'd forgotten, something pretty crucial to a band nerd like me. I was renting my instrument from the band cause my family couldn't afford one just yet.
I left my room so I could tell my family goodnight. "Night Chris!" I yelled down the hall to my little brother. I ran downstairs, holding my breasts. (It's an awkward habit dealing with breasts as big as mine... real life problem here, seriously guys). I gave my parents kisses goodnight, telling them I loved them. I pat my two dogs on the head before running upstairs once more.
__________
My alarm rang at 6. I got up, getting ready. I looked at my parents room, the light was on under the door. Maybe I could get a ride from Dad. I jumped into the shower, really giddy. I hadn't really gotten out much during the summer, so now, I get to see friends. It's kind of hard to when you live six and a half miles out of town... where most of your friends live. Plus living in bear territory? This Hawaiian doesn't want a death sentence.
I got out of the shower and got dressed. My hair? Please, brushing curls is a death sentence. I ran some mousse through my hair to give it a little bit of volume before running downstairs for breakfast. Dad already beat me down here, he looked at me and smiled. "Morning, love." he said.
"Morning Daddy." I looked in the freezer. I wanted me some Eggo waffles. After popping them in the toaster, I started bugging my father. "Can I get a ride to school today?"
"Sure." he said while he made his morning oats and coffee. I smiled, finishing up the process of making my waffles. Honestly, I don't know what's so good about these things. It has to be one of the most fake processed foods next to McDonald's chicken nuggets. But these waffles (especially when eaten frozen) have got to be a gift from the Gods.
"Let's get a move on." Dad said while he grabbed his jacket. I grabbed my bags and my instruments. I couldn't wait for this day to finally begin.
__________
I went to the office to grab my schedule. First Hour: PE; this teacher was super cool. Second: Choir, my music teacher is hella cool. Third: Algebra, hey, I have this class with my homies! Fourth: science, Mr.Knight? Yeah man! Fifth: Band, again love this teacher. Sixth: English, and again, I got my bros with me.
I found my locker, it was in the English/Science/Counseling/Social Studies hall. Yeah, this school is arranged pretty strangely. But it's the only middle school in Ketchikan and its population is only about 250 including students and staff. After opening it, it was slammed shut, almost catching my fingers. "What the h-" I looked at who I was talking to. James, the bane of my existence.
"Sup nerd." He snarked playfully. Shoving me against the lockers. It was pretty funny considering I towered the idiot by a good 2 inches... wait. I used to have a good 4 on him, what happened?
"Did the microsoft developers find a way to enable a growth ray in the Xbox? Or did shorty finally gain some height?" I teased.
"Hey, Don't be teasing me. I'm going to be taller than you and then what?" He said. I mock glared at him. "Yeah that's what I thought you little shit." we both laughed. James is like a brother to me. Throwback to seventh grade, we were both the new kids in town. He was one of my first real friends, other than Anthony who I met on the swim team the past summer. But while Anthony is smart and quick, James is good with comebacks... he just lacks other mental skills like getting good grades. So, we did a littler trade. He gets to copy my Geography homework and I learn more about gaming.
We never honestly planned on it or shook on it, it just kind of happened. Now, this dorky blond with glasses is someone I could never live with out.
As a brother. I don't like him... right?
Anyway, him being the first face I saw, I knew this day could only get better.
