Chapter 3

Olivia’s POV

I stretched as the end credits of The Grinch rolled across the screen I watched it at least once a week it was probably my all-time favourite movie I just ramped it up to once a day when we were like 5 days out from Christmas how exciting, even though I wasn’t spending Christmas with my family this year for obvious reasons I felt totally welcome here with the Smiths I felt totally at home and I was loved already by their whole family I had already met both Linda and Dave’s families and I was welcomed with open arms. I sighed as I looked around the house with nothing to do, I was home alone, Louis had gone out to do some last minute Christmas shopping although I don’t know with what money because he doesn’t have a job, Linda was at work and Dave travels a lot with his job so he would get home on the last flight on the 23rd so he would be home in time for Louis’ birthday even after 19 years he went to all the extra effort to make sure he was home on time for his son’s birthday, my dad wouldn’t give a rats about my birthday I was lucky if he even remembered I existed on my birthday but then he would try and buy my affection with fancy cars and lots and lots of money, my parents are those rich people who are so absorbed in themselves they should never of had kids exactly like the ones you see on tv. I looked at the clock and saw it was already 3:30 in the afternoon but I was starving I walked to the kitchen and pulled out the leftover pasta that was to die for and I didn’t even bother heating it up just unwrapping the plastic and grabbing a fork before falling back onto the couch going to play the Grinch again.

“Don’t you dare play that again Liv,” the deep voice of Liam said as he walked through the door and I jumped a foot in the air.

“Why not?” I asked now a smug grin on my face holding onto the remote.

“Because you’ve watched it everyday for the last week,” he rolled his eyes and I laughed chucking him the remote and eating the pasta.

“I am so glad those exams are over,” Harry said collapsing onto the couch and kicking his shoes off.

“I don’t know what you’re complaining about you’re still only doing junior exams,” Zayn said sprawling out over the love seat.

“They’re still hard,” Harry said rolling his eyes.

“Nothing compared to the three hours we just had to sit through mate,” Liam said flicking through the channels.

“What’d you boys just have?” I asked trying to break up their argument.

“Liam, Niall and Zayn all had English and I had legal studies,” Harry yawned stretching back.

“How do you think you all went?” I asked I honestly missed school I wish I hadn’t messed up so much I was actually pretty good at it when I tried.

“D+,” Liam shrugged.

“Yeah I went alright,” Zayn shrugged and I noticed Liam shoot him a look we all knew English was Zayn’s best and favourite subject.

“I’m pretty sure I passed,” Harry shrugged and Niall I don’t ever remember him coming into the lounge room he probably went straight for the fridge.

“That’s good, and Liam you didn’t fail you studied so hard,” I said eating more of my pasta.

“Yeah but I can never retain knowledge so I don’t know why I bother,” he shrugged still flicking the channels.

“Liam you did fine,” I said sternly and he nodded still bloody flicking channels but I didn’t want to say anything.

“Where the hell is the pasta from last night?” Niall yelled angrily from the kitchen and I cowered back into the couch, “I swear to god if Louis ate it I’m gonna kill him.”
