Chapter 1 Draft 1.2
life seems simple in the most immediate moments. You only have time and space revolving around you. There are no problems, just living each day without a care in the world. That's what Avalon felt like. It felt like a dream come true. A place that you could roam freely, life was easy. My name is Lucien Castro. I live in the town called Avalon on the planet safire. The galaxy is more than One Million light years from Earth ,but we still have around the same technology. That's enough about me. Now let's get to the good stuff.
A simple day starts with getting up and putting one foot in front of the other. That's what I did, and that's what everyone else would do. The light shining in from my window disorientated me when I first woke up ,but like any other day I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes. The alarm clock was yelling at me to get out of bed and get dressed for school. So I did exactly that. Oh who am I kidding? What I really did was flop back down onto my bed and tried to sleep for another hour ,but duty calls and my dad is walking into my room and making sure I actually wake up. Once I get down stairs I get bombarded by the honking of the school bus. I grab my book-bag and run outside to catch it. Apparently it just pulled up so I made it in time! It looks like I don't have to walk to school today! I went to the back of the bus to sit alone. To be honest I wasn't the popular kid I was more of the semi-good graded kid that everyone didn't seem to notice, but tried to remember my name when they needed something. My friends that actually do care keep telling me it's because I'm smarter than I let on ,but I think it's because no one actually wants to do their work.
The bus takes nearly two hours to get from my house to the school due to the numerous stops it takes ,but when we finally make it to the living death trap it's off to first hour for me.....math. The day goes by without any magical things happening until Amelia falls and skins her hand. She's always been a bit of a cluts. Normally she would just walk down to the nurse and everything would be fine. The guardians who watch over us normally always see when someone gets hurt. They normally only come if someone is bleeding heavily or dying, in order to save them or prevent them from further harm or trauma. So when none of the guardians came it wasnt that unexpected. However, when chase broke his arm in gym ,and no one showed up we started to worry......they never came ...when everyone started to realise that no one was going to heal their wounds they started to panic.
Three days later is when the shields fall. There was no warning. They were there one second and gone the next. One-Thousand people died. The shields were the only thing that kept our people and the Nteri separated. That's when we knew that something happened to the guardians. The small armed forces that the town had were deployed, and nearly all were killed in action. That's when they started the draft, anyone fit enough to fight were called to action. I signed up the moment that I could, enlisting granted the family of the enlisted immunity from the draft, and the only thing I was more worried about was my younger sister, and protecting her from being drafted. Everyone who was willing to stepped up and raised an army, but even then everything went to hell.
