"What are you doing?", asked Hopestar. "Going out. We've no food and it's been weeks since we've got any. It's time I stand up!", hollered Darkclaw. It was too dark; the fall had turned the sky into a blue-gray blur, dull and unimpressive. There were these signs. Signs of a storm, passing, just barely missing the LeafClan territory. Looking from said territory, half of the sky just looked normal. Home base, covered only in shadows. By the time leaf-fall came around, it started to snow, and hard. Food gone, shelter gone... in fact, all you could see was just white, snow and ice covered plains, and forest, for miles. At least apart from the one huge mountain hidden away in the distance. And the season was quickly morphing into the dreaded leaf-bare. "Alright. I suppose... just be back soon, ok? It's almost like a blizzard out there... already." "This way, eh Birch?", said Darkclaw. "Um... you want me to come? I... I, well... But I'm sick," Birchtail whimpered. "Whatever, you manly man." And so Darktail left. She was gone after only seconds. She smirked at Birchtail as she left, limping on her leg which she wounded in battle with a distant clan, long lost, never to be seen again. Rosewing had helped with that, and it was... at least for the most part healed. After about thirty minutes of silence, Hopestar pranced over to the small high rock and called for a clan meeting. "Darkclaw has went out in search of food. I'm sure you're all hungry after weeks with eating only scraps. This has left Rosewing super busy trying to keep us healthy. So, for now, we must savor what we do have." They heard a small thomp. "Well, I'm back. And I caught... about 3 fish, yeah, 3." Three fish? The clan was shocked. "We have definitely gotten used to starving around here, huh..?", Mistleap inquired. "I'll say," Rosewing said. As Hopestar sprinted down the high rock and over, she excitedly yelled, "How did you get them? You didn't go to the mountain, right?" Darkclaw responds, "Well, maybe I did." The clan gasped, everyone started sharing tongues. "That place was full of wild animals, I had to work fast. I mean, we're talking bears. I rushed back as soon as possible. Worst of all, I saw... I don't know how to say it... They're building a twolegplace. There were tree-eaters and twolegs and monsters all over. And I'd bet you I saw two kittypets, I mean it was crazy! And I can't see why they'd build it there! With the bears and all. I need to protect us!" Hopestar nudged her head over, whispering, "You'd better believe you'll be helping us on dawn patrol!"
