My older brother Tom and I did everything together up until the day he was diagnosed with lung cancer. I know, I know. That sounds so cliché, but it's true. One day I was reading his favorite book to him, Maximus Ride by James Patterson, while he smiled at me from his hospital bed. The next day, he wouldn't stop coughing and then he died. Me and my parents were devastated. Especially since we didn't even have enough money to give Tom a funeral.
A month after Tom's tragic death, the family started to drift apart. My mom worked all day and night, my dad practically lived at the bar, and I was always home alone.
My whole life changed when we moved to Forks, Washington. And you can thank Edward Cullen for that.
