I don't know where else to start, so I'm going to begin in the beginning. This chapter is dedicated to lovebird25 for getting me to start this book. Hope you like it!

Nasha's POV

"Honey! Come on downstairs for breakfast! We're having waffles!" my mom called from downstairs. I ran down to the kitchen as fast as my four year old feet could carry me. "Coming mommy!" I rounded the corner and came bounding into the kitchen. The smell of waffles immediately hit my nose as I crossed the threshold.

"Daddy! Let go of me!" I screamed when my father grabbed me from behind and threw me into the air.

"No way!" he laughed and started to tickle me. "Ow! s stop it, d daddy! I said, unable to control my mirth.

"Come on you two," my mom said, "Your waffles will get cold." My dad and I looked at each other, "Waffles!" we hollered together. I scrambled up to my chair and my mother handed me a plate full of waffles. My dad put butter, syrup, whipped cream and strawberries on top, earning a glare from my mom. My dad flung his hands up in surrender. "Hey, It's her birthday! My little princess has to have some happiness!" he said. I giggled at this. I felt my eyes turn from their usual green to a happy gold. That's the special thing about me. My eyes change to match my emotions. My parents said that that was my best feature. They told me that it made me unique and different, and I never once doubted them.

"Mommy! Daddy!" I said looking up at them. "My eyes!" I said happily. They grinned.

"What does this one mean?" my mom asked, still smiling proudly.

"I'm pretty sure gold means that I'm really, really, really excited!" I said, bouncing up and down in my seat. My dad's face suddenly turned serious. "Finish your food." he said in his biggest, scariest voice, "Or I will." He boomed, cracking a smile at the end.

I quickly finish my food and ran to get dressed. Once I had finished and had washed my face, I ran downstairs and found my best friends looking for me.

"Happy Birthday! They all screamed when they saw me. I gave them my biggest smile and hugged them.

"Hi guys! I said running to give my five best friends a hug. Joey sat on a couch closest to me with Mat standing next to him. Molly, Bella, and Cleo sat around them on the ground. I gave them each a hug and thanked them for nothing in particular. Mat stepped forward awkwardly and gave me a little box.

"Uh, Happy birthday Nash. This is from me." he said smiling weakly. I gave him my biggest smile and opened the box. Inside sat a snail shell. I gave him a friendly kiss on the cheek and thanked him.

He blushed and put his head down. I suddenly had a great idea.

"I'll be right back!" I said, running back up the stairs to my room. I grabbed a pin and a string of thread. I gingerly poked a hole through the shell and stuck the thread through it. I tied my new lucky charm around my neck and ran back to my friends.

"Look!" I said, showing all of my friends. "Now I can take it everywhere with me and never loose it."

I smiled proudly and whispered 'thank you' to Mat once more.

I jerked awake, holding my shell necklace tightly. I smiled as I thought about my dream. Such happy memories. I groaned and looked at my watch. 10:57. How did I sleep this late! I jumped out of bed and ran to my bathroom, grabbing an outfit on my way.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I have long dark brown hair and pale skin. My lips are naturally red and I have long thick eyelashes to frame my eyes. If I were to cut my hair and tie it in a red ribbon, I would look just like snow white.

I took a quick shower and got ready for school.

I glanced at my calendar on my phone and realized it was Saturday, and my birthday. I groaned inwardly that I had been so worried about being late, when I didn't even have to be anywhere. I tiptoed downstairs and looked around. No one was awake. I quietly made my way to my parents room.

"Mom? Dad?" I asked, knocking and entering their room. Empty. This was weird. They never had anything to do on Saturdays, and always spent the day with me on my birthday.

I searched everywhere. There seemed to be a lot of things missing. My house was almost completely empty. I didn't want to think about what happened. They couldn't leave me. They just couldn't.

I froze. Tears formed in my eyes when I saw it. Taped to the door was a piece of paper with a single word on it.

"Goodbye"

No, no this can't be. The room seemed to tilt. No. Tears streamed down my face and everything became blurry. I fell to my knees sobbing silently. No, I can't believe it. I won't believe it. I don't believe it.

"No no no no no!" I screamed, not believing they would do this to their only child. I grabbed a phone and called them. Their answering machine told me the same thing.

"Goodbye"

I called all of my friends, wanting to see what I should do. Their answering machines all said the same horrible message.

"Goodbye"

I sank to the ground sobbing. No. No. All I could say was no. Everyone abandoned me. Maybe I was just really tired and jumping to conclusions. Maybe I was only dreaming.

I searched everywhere, everything. No one answered any of my calls, no neighbors were home. Everything. Everything.

Empty.

Gone.

Deserted.

I was completely and utterly abandoned. I cried and cried into the emptiness.

No.
