A cold burst of air hit my face as I stepped out of the warm car. I hear the driver's seat door open and Kent stepped out. He walked over to me and our arms intertwined in an embrace. He stepped back and rubbed his hands on my upper arms, as he saw I was freezing in this late November weather. I looked back into Kent's eyes as I realized I had kinda trailed off.
"I-I gotta go, my mom is probably worried..." I lied. Everyone in the house was asleep.
"Uh, okay. I'll miss you, Violet. I love you" Kent said quietly.
"You too," I replied almost inaudible.
I turned around and started to walk towards my house. Since it was late I snuck around the building and to the back where my window was. Before I left I cracked my window slightly so I could get into the house when I got back without waking up any of my family members. I popped the screen out then slid the window open. After climbing into my window cautiously, trying not to knock any plants that were on my window sill over, I placed the screen back in and closed the window. I peeled my black skinny jeans off and took off my bra before sliding under my duvet and drifting off into a deep sleep.
The next morning I woke up to a loud pounding at my door.
"Violet get up!! You have twenty minutes to get ready to go to church!!!"
"Okay!!!" Ugh I forgot I had to go to church.
My family has always been super religious and I had never really felt okay with everything the priest talks about in church. I decided to wear my black romper with roses on it. I put my shoulder-length hair up in two hair bands on the back of my head, after I did my simple makeup routine I went down the hall for breakfast.
"Well good morning sleepy head." My father commented
"good morning" I replied.
"I made eggs. Do you want any?" My mother said from the other side of the breakfast bar in our kitchen.
"sure." I said back.
She handed me a plate of eggs fresh off the pan. I drenched them in ketchup before devouring them in under five minutes.
"where's Aaron?" I asked.
"Your little brother is at his friend's house" my father replied.
"oh, is he coming with us to church?"
"no, he said he didn't want to."
"wait but I thought you made us come to church no matter what on Sundays. And no sleepovers on Saturdays!"
"That's only for you, Violet. You have always been very rebellious and we don't want you to get carried away and forget that God is first"
I got up and cleared my plate without replying to my dad.
"I'll meet you guys in the car" I said in a disrespectful tone.
I got no reply, I walked to the car and got in. Waiting for my parents to drive us to church.
We had an awkward silent drive to church and when we got there an even more awkward interaction with the preacher. He told us he was expecting us there and that he saved us seats up front and that there was a very special message that we should listen into today.
We all got seated and the preacher came on stage and greeted us warmly. Once again saying about the special message he is supposedly giving today.
"Today we are going to be talking about the very converversal topic, homosexuality" The preacher announced.
I froze. All my thoughts stopped and I immediately shot my head up to look at the pastor. I have no idea why I am acting so strangely.
Ahhhh this is the first story I've ever written! Is it good? Should I continue writing it?
