A bell rings in the school courtyard, birds fly off towards the setting orange sun, a gentle breeze blows a lone rose pedal from the bud. Autumn is starting.

"Take your seats everyone, class is about to start" a deep scruffy voice says.

I raise my head from my desk. now I'm usually very attentive but I tend to zone out at times, It may seem weird but I have my reasons. This isn't much of an introduction is it? I'm Orlando if it even matters at this point. I'm called Lando for short at times, but only by those closest to me, which is approximately 1 person.

"ORLANDO!"

"YES!?" I screamed, drool rolling down my check, I quickly wiped it off.

"Welcome back to the land of the living" The voice said.

A light chuckle filled the class as my peers found humor in my public shaming.

"S-sorry Mr.Howard" I stuttered

He walked back to the front of the class and sat down in his reclining brown leather chair behind his wooden desk.

"Now, we have a new student" He said

"A new student...why do I care" I muttered

I laid my head back down, and buried my face in my arm. I didn't care much for people, I preferred to be alone, well I try to be alone, but we all have that one obnoxious friend who won't leave us be in the blissful solidarity of our own thoughts. But that's not important right now.

"Now introduce yourself to the class" Mr.Howard said

The class begins to erupt in conversation

"She's kind of cute"

'Look at her hair it's so nice"

"We finally have a hottie in our class"

None of this interested me, I've seen plenty of girls that were moderately attractive and I've felt nothing for any of them, this one shouldn't be any different. I started to lift my head

"Hey man you think I have a shot"

"Yeah like she would ever go out with you"

I grumbled to myself

"C'mon guys you're blowing this out of proportion, what could be so special about...her"

There she stood, long dark brown hair, pale grey eyes, a gentle smile so warm it seems as if it could melt away all the troubles of the world. I've never seen a girl so full of life, so alluring, so socially acceptable in every way and yet...so alone.
