Chapter Three: Beautiful Dungeon

Start from the beginning

"Then please enlighten me on why it will take eight hours to get me ready!?" I exclaimed.

Catherine raised an eyebrow.

"Fine." I muttered getting up from the bed mournfully, "I'm all yours."

...

Eight hours later I sat blindfolded waiting to see the final results.

I reached to take off the blind fold but my hand was slapped away.

"Hold on. Give me two seconds."

I sighed and waited until I felt Catherine's hands pull away.

"Okay you can look now."

I pulled off the blindfold and my eyes widened. I looked good. Really good.

Catherine smirked. "You look pretty good If I do say so myself."

I stood and noticed that I was wearing a midnight blue evening gown. It clung to me and flattered the curves I didn't even know I had, not to mention I looked at least a foot taller. It had a slit that ended just above my knee and a when I turned the dress seemed to shimmer. I had to admit. Catherine had done a beautiful job of making me look softer than I was. The girl I saw in the mirror smiled and it wasn't intimidating. She looked, pretty. Beautiful even.

Catherine jolted me from my thoughts when she handed me a sliver pin to put onto my dress. "This is your Captain's pin. You are to wear this to show your position to the guests and your team. Now, I believe that you are finally ready to go down. You need to get to the ball or else they'll have my head for not getting you there on time." She shooed me towards the door before I could protest.

For a moment I stood outside my door not sure where to go, then I wandered down the long hallway towards the noise until I came to a domed room full of servants bustling around carrying trays of food and bottles of champagne. I continued down the hallway until I heard the sounds of a waltz playing softly. I walked as fast as my gown allowed me, tripping in my long heels along the way.

"Darn these heels," I muttered.

I tripped at least five more times before I reached the ballroom.

A guard stopped me at the entrance before looking at my pin. "Are you Captain Luna James?"

I nodded and he let me pass through.

I came to the top of the steps and looked at all the people below me. I started slowly down the staircase, trying not to tip over. When I got to the bottom I realized that the room was completely silent, except for the music and that everyone was staring at me. I quietly walked through the crowd looking for a sign of Will. I walked towards the refreshment table hoping he would be standing there and sure enough, I saw him standing there occasionally stealing a drink or two. I decided to tease him a little. I snuck around behind him and said in my best official voice, "Sir is there a reason you've had at least five drinks in the space of three minutes? There is such a thing as having restraint."

Will froze in mid drink and turned towards me. He eyes widened when he saw me and he choked violently. "Luna-what-you-look." He stopped, choking too violently to talk.

I grinned. "You okay?"

He coughed a couple more times and cleared his throat. "You look...amazing." He looked me over head to toe.

"Thanks," I smiled. "You don't look so bad yourself. Although your bowtie is a little crooked." I laughed reaching up to straighten it then smoothing down the lapels of his suit. "There." I said stepping back.

Will cleared his throat nervously. "So do you want to dance?"

I nodded, "I would love to."

We went over to the middle of the dance floor and started to dance a waltz.
