The week flies by and everyone's buzzing about the homecoming dance which will happen later today. I walk down the corridor as I'm changing classes and I hear snippets of conversations as I go by.

"Oh my god. She bought the same dress as me! I'm going to murder the bitch," someone shrieks as I cross them on the corridor and I amusedly shake my head at the situation. The girls at Winchester Prep get even crazier than usual before social events like this and the day of the dance is the worst.

I wander inside the english classroom and sit down on my usual seat by the window. The sun is pouring inside and the rays are warm against my face. I close my eyes and appreciate the feeling for a few seconds and then open them again. As I focus my gaze I see that Mr Clarke's looking at my with a curious expression on his face, his lips curled into a smile.

My heart skips a beat at his angelical face and I feel my lips forming a smile in return. I look away from him and watch as other people flit into the room. I grab my textbook and materials for the lesson as I wait for everyone to sit down.

"We're going to analyze a few poems today and each of you will be paired with another student," he says and grabs a list from his desk.

"Henry and Lauren," he starts reading from the paper and people stand up to go towards their pairs, "Kate and Ashley. Nicholas and Luna."

Oh no. The color drains from my face as I hear my pair's name coming out from Mr Clarke's lips. He had to choose the only person that I didn't want to be matched with. And to make matters worse I thought about him when I was making out with Nick which just makes it more uncomfortable. Nick rises from his desk and walks towards me slowly.

"Hey," he says while staring into my eyes.

"Hi Nick," I mutter and he sits down on the desk besides mine. We're both silent as Mr Clarke places the sheet of paper in front of us. He pauses at my side for a second and I look at him from under his lashes. His green eyes are intense on my own and then he's gone from the desk. I clear my throat.

"Well, I think that we should start by-"

"I've been meaning to talk to you since the party," Nick interrupts me, "When we, you know..."

"I know, trust me" I cut him of and he takes my dismissal in the wrong way, thinking that I enjoyed myself. His eyes twinkle.

"We should finish what we started," he smirks suggestively and I wrinkle my nose.

"I think we shouldn't,"I say rudely and roll my eyes.

"You seemed pretty into it though," he challenges me and I sigh.

"I was wasted Nick, I didn't know what was going on." He keeps quiet for a while after that one and I try to do the work. I watch as he suddenly furrows his eyebrows.

"And who the fuck is Alexander? Do you have a boyfriend or something?" he says loudly and my stomach drops. I watch in agonizing slow motion as Mr Clarke, who was walking by our desk at that damn moment stops and stares at me, but Nick carries on, "I guess this Alexander guy must be your boyfriend by the way you moaned his name like that."

My mouth hangs open in dread and I feel the blood rushing out of my face. Oh my God. My eyes are opened wide with shock and my pupils are dilated with embarrassment. My gaze is trained on his torso in front of me and I force myself to look into his eyes. His eyebrows are furrowed and his green eyes are dark against his skin. His face is a mixture of disbelief and surprise and I feel like dying with shame. I watch the sparkle in his almost-black eyes and the confusion on them. He gains his composure back and stands straighter than before, training his furious gaze at Nick.
