Kathryn's Point of View:

Parang dinudurog 'yong puso ko nang makita ko siyang nakahiga. His skin looks paler.

I didn't inform him I'm coming. I only contacted her mom and dad. Sila 'yong sumundo sa'kin sa airport.

"Mom? Nakabalik na pala kay--- KC?" Gulat na bungad niya at pilit na bumangon.

"May kukunin lang ako sa kotse. Maiwan ko na muna kayo hija."paalam ni tita Iya.

"Hey. How are you?"mahinang bati ko sa kanya. I tried to shave back the tears threatening from my eyes.

Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya.

"Wag kang umiyak please... Please treat me normally. Ayoko ng kinaaawaan. I want to feel normal."

Niyakap ko siya at hinagkan sa pisngi.

"You should't have come over. You can't just abandon your life because of ---"

"I'm not abandoning it. Life is a choice. And I choose to live it with you. Nangako tayo diba?"

Tears streamed from his eyes as I said the words to him. He took my hands and kissed them.

"Thank you Kath."he murmured as he kissed again each of my hand. "You have to rest. Kakabyahe mo lang. You must be tired."

"No---No. I'm fine. Gusto kitang samahan. Let me just take this call."paalam ko nang tumawag si mama.

"Ma. Nandito na po ako."

"I've talked to Iya already. Will you be alright there darling?"

"Of course ma."

"There are some problems here your dad and I are trying to get rid off. And I've just talked to our attorney regarding the case we're filing against the Yu's. Maybe, it'll take three months before we can follow you there."

"Ma. It's alright. We don't have to rush things, okay? Bye ma. Tell papa, I miss  him so much already."

"Sure darling. We love you. Oh! Honey, I almost forgot, there was this box I put in your luggage. Your brother brought it. I just thought you might need to know. Bye baby."

"Bye ma."

Box? Anong box? Kay kuya Carmel galing? I'll just check it later.

---

"Shrek. I have been asking tita since I get to be here and she isn't telling me anything about your condition. And I haven't met your doctor yet! I'm already two weeks here."

"I told them not to tell you. I don't want you worried about me. I just want to live normally... as if this "thing" is really nothing."

"But you have to tell me. I've been researching and I have these high hopes that you're going to be fine again. You're going to be well, aren' you?"

We stopped. We're strolling around the park. I used to walk him here every morning. He's on a wheelchair.

Japan would have been really great if only he's well. I used to dream about coming here with him. And now that we're here, I'm not happy.

Masaya akong kasama siya at naaalagaan siya. But every time na inaatake siya ng sakit niya, na nahihirapan siyang huminga at umiiyak sa biglaang pananakit ng dibdib niya, parang pinapatay narin ako. He barely gets a sound sleep because of intense night sweats. I can't stop worrying everytime he takes a single spoonful for a meal and says he's already full.

"Seriously Ves, I need to know everything that's going on."

"I have a Stage IV cancer. It has spread throughout my body. It's a progressive disease. I've been treated for six years and it becomes larger as treatments go on."
