Ellie’s POV
I hurriedly drove to the field where Louis is practicing soccer nearing the place I saw him sitting down on the bench playing with his ball. Turning off the engine I jump out of the car and ran towards him.
“Louis I’m so sorry for being late” I said feeling guilty
“El its fine we just finished anyway” he stood up and smile at me. He really looks like our dad “So how ‘bout a bear hug?” opening his arms wide then smirk
I was about to hug him when I realized “Eww how ‘bout a no? You smell Lou” I said scrunching my nose
His smirk faded “Jeez thanks sis” note the sarcasm
“You’re always welcome my baby brother Now come on let’s go get ice cream so we could get home early and you can shower. Mom said not to go home late you need to rest early” I said then we walked towards my car “Lou I brought a change of shirt for you so won’t get sick” I handed him a plain white shirt and immediately he took off his soccer shirt and wore the new shirt I handed to him “Ready to go?” instead of replying verbally Lou just nodded and I started the car and drove off to the ice cream parlor
The car ride was silent at first until Louis spoke “So sis where were you before you went to the field to get me?” he asked looking at me
“I uh.. Went to the park” I muttered not sure if he heard me
“You only go there when something’s bothering you? Ellie tell me what wrong? Did someone hurt you do you want me to beat him?” he was now talking in his serious voice
“Hey remember what mom said about violence is the solution to your problems?” I scolded
“Yes sorry El I just don’t want someone to hurt you” he looked down ashamed
“Its fine Lou and thanks for being a protective brother” I held my other hand to his reassuring “And what makes you sure that it’s a He?” I glanced quickly at him raising my eyes brows before looking back at the road
“I don’t know brotherly… instinct?” he looked at me grinning widely and I could help but giggle “Well its partly the reason. I got into a heated fight with Aria about something then I went to the park to cool off then Sean came” I tighten y grip at the steering wheel
“Sean? As in Sean the guy I played basketball with few summers ago? I miss playing with him he’s a cool dude. Do you think you could ask him if he wants to play with me El?” Lou said excitedly
“I don’t think that’s a good idea Lou” I said softly as I tried to find a parking spot in front of the parlor. Glancing at him I saw his confused expression I sighed not wanting to get his hopes up “I’ll explain in a bit let’s get ice cream first”. He just nodded and we walk towards the familiar ice cream parlor with my hand around his shoulder.
Entering the parlor brings back childhood memories. I could still smell the familiar scent of chocolate, caramel, strawberries and a lot more. Lou and I have been going here since we were really young this usually is our bonding time besides cuddling up watching movies or playing video games. Seeing the familiar sweet old lady who owns the parlor behind the counter make this place like home
“Hello there Ellie how are you? It’s been awhile since I last saw you.” She exclaimed
“Hey Mrs. Curtis I’m good thanks been very busy in school. How are you and Mr. Curtis? The place hasn’t change a bit” I smiled
“We’re both fine dear he’s at the back working out his magic. Is that Louis beside you? He’s so grown up now and very handsome just like your dad” Mrs. Curtis smiled weakly “He’s in a better place now dear and I’m sure he’s proud of both of you”
I gave her a sad smile “Thanks Mrs. Curtis we’ll order the usual”
“If I’m not mistaken for you would be Vanilla Ice Cream with Swiss Mocha Chips and Blueberry Swirl and for Louis Chocolate Ice Cream with Marshmallow Swirl?”
“You still remembered” I said happily and fished money from my shorts when Mrs. Curtis stopped me “No need dear it’s on the house and I’ll let you try our new flavor Cheesecake Flavored Ice Cream with Strawberry Swirl” she winked at me and placed our order. “Someone will just deliver your treats sit wherever and by the way send you mother my love tell her to stop by anytime” I nodded and took a sit by the window
“Uh Ellie who was that nice old lady” he ask, confused furring his eye brows
“Don’t you remember her Lou? Mrs. Curtis was the one who babysits us when we were kids. She used to be our next door neighbor she would always bake us her delicious double chocolate chip cookies and tell us great stories before bedtime” I smiled remembering the good old times
“I’m not sure her but I do remember those cookies are the best” he exclaimed and I just giggled he way too young to remember that memory. Lou was about 6 at that time every Friday when mom and dad have their date night we would be at Mrs. Curtis house playing, baking her famous cookies and she’d even help us in our homework so we could be free the next day.
Suddenly I hear someone snap a finger in front of me. “El! You okay? You kind of space out there and you smiled like a crazy person” Lou asked a bit worried
“Yeah I’m fine I just remembered a happy memory. When did our ice cream arrive? Did I space out for a while?” my cheeks now turning red “About two minutes ago you were still down memory lane when it arrived” Lou said as he continued eating his ice cream
I was enjoying eating my ice cream that felt like fireworks in my mouth in complete silence. Until Louis break the ice again.
“So are you going to tell me the reason now why it’s not a good idea to hang-out with Sean?”
“He change Lou. He’s not the same guy we met few summers ago”
He’s not the same guy I fell in love with that summer.

Another update! :) Hope you like the chapter. It shows the strong bond of Ellie and Louis. Cliffhanger? >:) Next chapter would explain what the memory Ellie always talk about.
