"Cold.", Dipper Pines thought aloud, the October wind's path opposite of his in Gravity Falls, Oregon.  He was on his way to a small, formal dance that Pacifica Northwest had invited him to, dressed in a white dress shirt, black pants and vest, with a matching necktie.

The mud sunk under his feet, ruining the bottom of his black dress shoes, "Ugh..", he was annoyed, with not only his shoes, but the fact that their mansion is on the other side of town.  Of course, he wasn't intending to dance with Pacifica, and, hopefully she thought the same with him.

He looked opposite of him, at his twin sister, Mabel, donned in a white lace sweater and a black mini skirt. He skimmed through the golden invitation he held, then put it back in his leather satchel, "So, Pacifica wanted us to come to her mansion?", Mable noticed that he sounded unsure, and he had every right to be, but this wasn't anything different from the past ten minutes of walking.

"Dip, I know she's done some things in the past, but we're older now, and I think she's grown up too." She put emphasis on past, and a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him.

Dipper relented, and sighed, looking forward again.

Mabel wasn't satisfied with this conclusion, though, and she continued, "Give her a chance, Dipper, you never know how people think and change." Mabel let her hand slide off of his shoulder and to his arm, until letting go.

He recalled the last time they were in the manor, Category Ten.., he reminded himself.

Mable noticed his silent contemplation, peering into his eyes, trying to put together a puzzle with multiple missing pieces. Eventually she gave up and frowned in defeat, turning around to think herself.

Dipper stopped, and broke his concentration to stare down at the ground in a puddle, ogling his slightly scraggy black pants blankly. He let out a sigh, as if to clear the smoke his factory of a brain is creating.

It took Mable a moment to realize he had remained still near the small, mirror-like, containment of water, but when she looked to her right and began to talk, she knew, and she turned on her heel to return to him.

"Hey, you can't just leave a defenseless ball of adorable like me standin' out here like a doofus, doofus!" She jokingly scolded him, and said doofus turned to her slowly.

"Mabel, why do you think Pacifica wanted us to come now, after months of being a recluse?" He asked, with a grim tone, his attention suddenly grabbed by a stick beside the path.

She exhaled, managing to stay patient with him, "Dipper, seriously, give her a try! You might even like her, and this might be my chance to-..to..", her eyes drifted down, as she remembered the times she's ruined his day with her antics.

"I'm just saying you need to stop overthinking, bro. It could be her trying to break the 'ol stanky shell! I mean, come on, it could be fun." She held his hand with both of hers, pressing against him,  staring holes in his head in hoping to see some loosening up.

Dipper shamefully looked at her with a frown, then looked back at the stick, "Yeah.. you're right," he turned and started to walk again, "let's go."

Mabel smiled brightly, getting dragged along.

The doors creaked sharply as they were pushed open by Dipper, expecting a immensely populated, lively party, but what he found was the opposite.

Mabel was already starting to have second thoughts, "U-Uh Dip, this.. seems weird, why are the.. lights out?"

"Well we'll find out, won't we?" he reached into his satchel, pulling out a flashlight, "I told you bringing this thing wouldn't be stupid.", Mabel exhaled to push the fear out, and walked beside Dipper, as he explored, trying to uncover the strange surprise.
