When we were younger, we'd put our arms in our shirts and tell people we'd lost our arms. We would restart the video game whenever we knew we were going to lose. We would sleep with all of our stuffed animals so non of them would get offended. We had that one pen with six colours, and tried to push all the buttons at once. We would pour bottled drinks into the cap and acted like we were taking shots. We would hide behind a door to scare someone, but soon leave because they were taking too long. We would fake being asleep, so our dad would carry us to bed. We used to think the moon followed our car. We would watch those two drops of rain roll down the window and pretend it was a race. We used to swallow fruit seeds and get scared to death that a fruit tree would grow inside our tummy. We remember when we couldn't wait to grow up. What were we all thinking?
Lollipops turned to cigarettes. The innocent ones turned into sluts. Homework goes unfinished. Detention becomes suspension. Mobile phones are used in class. Fizzy drinks become vodka. Bikes become cars. Kisses turn into sex. Remember when getting high meant swinging as high as possible at the park? When protection meant wearing a helmet? When the worst thing you could get from a boy were cooties? Dads shoulders were the highest place on earth, and mum was our hero? Race issues were who ran the fastest. The only drug you knew of was cough medicine. The most pain you felt was when you scraped your knee. Goodbyes were only until tomorrow.
But now? everything has changed.
Welcome to college!
The place you will experience the real parties. The bitches. The drama. The heartaches. The douche bags. The stress. The pressure. But mostly, this is the place where you will live for three years and it's going to be one hell of a ride.
All because of him.
The boy who broke her heart in ways that can't be fixed. He was every fathers nightmare. When this boy left, he no doubt took part of her heart with him.
But this boy, he was her everything. All she had. All she wanted. He was the one who allowed her to experience this amazing feeling, that feeling every teenager dreams to have. The feeling of love.
All she wants now is to go back in time and get the chance that she never met him. Then there would be no need to impress him. No need to want him. No need for loving him. No need for forgotten promises. No need, for everything he's done to make her feel like absolutely nothing.
Many people react differently after a heartbreak. She spent weeks on end trying to forget him. But how could she? How could she when she had to see the boy she loved moving from girl to girl, looking happy as ever, every day?
This was college. She couldn't not see him. They had classes together. Lunches together. Everything together although.. That was one thing they weren't anymore; together.
Bitterness had taken over all the love she once held of him. Love was no longer an emotion she accepted to feel. He played her. Played her like no other.
Everyone knew that.
And all for a pathetic game of two truths and a lie.
