A hand slapped down on the counter. The policeman look up to see a man dressed in a leather jacket, black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt and a U.K. neckerchief. His eyes turned into a squint as he looked under the man hand's to see a handful of hundreds of dollars. Great. Another bribe. "I told you that we can't take bribes."

He huffed, "This isn't a bribe you twit! This is bail." His large caterpillar -like eyebrows furrowed in frustration as he slid the money closer to the officer. With not so much as a bat of an eyelash he examines the amount: $300.
"Who's it for?" The man ran fingers through his messy blond hair and sighed, " The only giant in this jail, who else?" He questioned as it was obvious.
" Well, just for your information, this place for humans AND giants." He said.

"Look, I don't have time for this, I heard this was the amount from the cop who arrested him to bail him out and here it is!" He yelled.
He was way to tired to deal with this." Fine, let's just check to make sure..." the cop slid to the computer on his desk and typing in the password went to the files, "Uh, what's his name?"

"Its fricking Alfred F. Jones!" The cop blocked the brit's voice out as he typed out the name, " Yep, he was arrested for...eating all of four different McDonald's hamburgers and refusing to pay? Whoa. Never heard of that." He said as he scrolled down to see the amount, " Actually it's not $300, it's $300,000." Arthur sputtered, " No, he said $300, he could not have possibly ate that much!" The cop looked at him with a deadly glare, "Well, he did and if you want him out you better pay up." He extended his hand and with a smirk he watched as Arthur fumbled through his pockets. "I-I'll be right back, I just have to go to the bank..." he mumbled and race out the door.
A few minutes later he was quickly walking across the icy sidewalk packed with people trying not to bump into anyone. His brain was packed with questions: Why did this have to happen? Why did he have to eat so much? Why did he have to know him? Why...did he ever meet him? His feet stopped in the usual quicken pace to ponder this question. " Why?" He mumbled. A memory of a bomber jacket clad lad running around the building and looking at the tiny business workers who screamed and jumped back from the windows was the first thing he saw. He already knew about the new recruit and was sorry that he didn't stay home today.

Blue eyes as clear as the ocean widen in awe at the tiny argyle sweater, khaki pants with black dress shoes. Looking up a bit further he noted the man's unusual eyebrows and blond hair was trying it's hardest to stay neat but had already failed. That. That was the person he would admire for ever. If Arthur could say the same, when his boss told him of his new co-worker he didn't expect this! Even those giants and humans lived together for years the boss only would allow humans until  the company had to change its rule because of a lawsuit.
The daft boy soon to be named Alfred would take a great liking to him and help the janitor clean the building. Everyday Alfred would tease the boys and flirt with the girls while Arthur would get ready for meetings and pubs. Somehow they met constantly. While Arthur would tell him off he would say something that would get his heart pumping and his cheeks flushing with pink or crimson depending on the way he said it. When he tried to deny that he was blushing the boy would sneak a look at him, always marveling how cute he was when he was shy. Arthur depending on his mood would either flee or walk back into the room he just came from.
The months would pass; no matter how hard Alfred tried he couldn't get pass the the cold front that the tiny man secured around him. So he decided a different tactic: to make him soft. Arthur would be bombarded with things that he enjoyed: scones, famous English books, CDs of rock music. Slowly the Brit started to melt.  But being the logical man he was he considered dating was to hard for him and made excuses when Alfred asked him out to concerts, coffee shops, and parties. But he desired to go with him now matter how many times he refused.
That's when it happened; it was near Christmas and Arthur was walking home from grocery shopping. He was going to make Cherries jubilees for himself since his brothers "forgot" to give him the information to the yearly family Christmas party. He was so into his thoughts for the evening he didn't even hear the usually shaking of the ground as Alfred walked up behind him. Alfred always did this, leaning down he gently blew on him, Arthur naturally wrapped his jacket around him and shivered from the cold breeze. Looking up he saw the biggest, whitest, teeth that he ever seen in his life! "What the-Hey Iggy!" Alfred screamed. He was so glad he brought earplugs with him, after taking them out he gave the man a hard glance and losses his jacket.
"What do you want nitwit?" He grumbled and was going to keep walking without his question answered when he heard words that he thought could never come out of that dunderhead's lips, " Do you hate me?" Of course he heard the question but for some reason he didn't want to say no. Of course he didn't want to say yes either but the question had too many possible answers to it. "N-no, I don't hate you, it's...complicated." Alfred tilted his head slightly, "How come?" Another million answer question. "Look, I just don't like you that way, I mean your nice and all-How nice?" Alfred grinned. Arthur face flushed red with anger and embarrassment at the innocent question but he wasn't into him like that, right? "How can you be so sure that I like you?"
He questioned. Alfred grinned, "Well, I heard from this friend there's a way to tell." He said with a sly grin. Arthur became curious; what was it? "Alright, fine t-" He was immediately cut off by the soft touch of warm lips. Arthur first tried to struggle, yelling and screaming to high heaven. The kiss slowly sunk in, soon he slowly began to kiss right back enjoying the sensation. The kiss brought new light to the situation and realizing how much he loved this man, he didn't want the kiss to end. But he then found himself on the cold sidewalk with the snow gently falling on his head.

The feelings for the man slowly churned and stirred in his body, finally not able to take it anymore he ran, not know where to go decided to run home.  Opening and shutting the door with a slam he took deep breaths and with a heavy sigh slid down the door. Remembering the kiss, he began to blush and cup his hand over his mouth.
In a few months they had decided to try dating and soon began to like it, though it was really hard to keep it a secret since Alfred was a blabbermouth. The days passed, learning and listening to each other helped the relationship become stronger the longer they held on.
Now here he was at the prison handing the officer the correct amount of bills. Checking the amount he smiled," I'll get him." The chair creaked as he got up and went towards the back to collect the offender. A few minutes later he saw a giant sneaker in front of him, the giant awkwardly smiled at him. He smirked back," Did you apologize?"
"No way!" He grinned. The Brit playfully sighed," Come on, the countdown going to start soon!" Alfred grinned, he loved it when he got excited. "Alright race you!" The officer watched as the couple ran fight out into the freezing snow to join the millions ready to start the New Year.
