I don't think I've mentioned this before, but Connor Franta is a fucking god. He is the best thing since sliced bread. And I may have a fangirl/fanboy crush on him and I'm maybe maybe a bit obsessed. Regardless of my weirdness, he's a guest at We Day Toronto tomorrow.
It's a big ass deal because it's my first time going to We Day and he is my idol (because we've already established that I'm a creepy fan) and I'm happy and I have problems, okay? Okay. Seven other kids from my schools Me to We Team are going. We wrote essays and got chosen based on who's essay was the best. The best eight essays.
The only problem is, my school is full of homophobes (or at least people who use the big bad offensive f-word with or without full understanding of the meaning) and there was one guy who said something like "this f*****," blah blah blah because my town fucking sucks and is stuck in the seventies. They're going to be weirded out. The only person that supported me from my school (where I've been for two years. I dress like a lesbian stereotype and people joked about me being gay all the time but when I'm bi it's suddenly weird. Where I have friends. Where there was this girl who implied I was seeking attention and asked if I was serious. Damn I hate that place) I came out on Instagram was this one girl who has gay uncles.
At least there will be other LGBT people and supporters at the event. Macklemore is going to be there too, and he's my favourite (read: basically the only one I like) rapper. So damn happy.
Hedley's going to be there as well. If you haven't heard of them, Hedley is a Canadian rock band that's been around for ten years or so. I'll put a couple songs on here for your reading pleasure. Er, listening pleasure.
^^ May include explicit content (nude dudes and dudettes, "fuck that, I can do ANYTHING")
^^ clean
Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip is going to be speaking, and possibly singing at the event. It's going to be pretty good, hearing someone else's experience with cancer.
It helps me get that everyone is suffering from something, whether mental or physical. Asthma, diabetes, cancer, scoliosis, autism. PTSD, depression, anxiety, narcissism, psychosis. paralysation, divorce, death, dysphoria, fear. We all have these little fears that get to us, worm into our heads that we aren't good enough. Remember, just because your situation is better than someone else's doesn't mean your problems deserve to be ignored. You deserve to be heard.
If you aren't going to or haven't been to We Day, watch the live stream. Remember that your friends care about you and "FUCK THAT! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING"
xxo Grey (ah yez, I'm using the spelling I used to use)
