November 17th: Since When Did The Radio Become So Homogenous Anyway?

So today I'm in Windsor for a Marianas Trench concert. Josh Ramsay is a god btw. He is fucking awesome. He writes the band's songs. The song above is Alibis. Listen to it, it is sad and makes me cry every single damn time I listen to it.
He's been through a lot. Fellow Trenchers, you know that. He cut, he was anorexic, bulimic, a heroin addict and terribly depressed. He lived. That is why I look up to him. He's been through so many things that easily could've killed him, and he's still here, alive and out of the hospital.
He's alive, even if he isn't healthy, he's alive. He's pretty thin, but he's never been a big guy either, so I'm not sure if this is normal. His face was pretty gaunt. Ten or so years ago, when most of their confessional songs came out, when he was recovering, he was looking healthy.
He was wearing a half sleeve and the tightest pants I've ever seen on a man. Really tight pants. A half sleeve. That was it. Considering he had disorders that affected how he thought of himself and how he looked so much, I'm proud of how he was showing off. He wasn't wearing a shirt for three quarters of the show. He looks alive and happy performing. It's great to see how good he looks nowadays. You could hear how pained he sounded when singing a lot of the songs on Fix Me. They didn't perform any at the concert and that made me a bit sad, but they probably didn't have time to play them.
A bit after making his way through the crowd, he went to a piano and played One Love. He said: "You know that Dream you have when you go to school and you're naked? That's my life right now."  Then he put on a sweater and lost it within five minutes. This guy...
He made a joke about stalkers and then said in a creepy voice that next they were going to play All to Myself, and that it was a bad time to play it because of the joke he just made, which made the it a thousand times creepier. Really man, really... "I can't keep my filthy fucking mouth shut" clearly...lol.

Pop 101 was played. "There's always this one really fucking popular song on the radio. Then the next week, eight more songs come on that sound just like it. Since when did the radio become so homogenous, anyway?" While we're talking about Pop 101, Ian did a really good job at the rap before the last chorus.

Everyone was singing along during Desperate Measures. He introduced it as "So, for the video, we decided to recreate the underwear scene from Risky Business," and you never heard him name the songs. None of them.
He made a comment or a joke before playing and that would be the pointer towards what they were playing.
There was a part during Cross My Heart when he said he wanted us to repeat after him. He started with sounds people could follow and repeat. Then there was this big belty, complicated note and everyone just stood there stunned for a moment before cheering and clapping.
"We're still good, but I'm really disappointed in you guys," he said.
Marianas Trench puts on a good show and they make fans feel a part of it. I was standing for the whole time because I didn't want to sit down, and neither did anyone else. The fans were hilarious; some lady in the front tie threw her bra onto the mic stand and the show continued as normal. Like, really great crowd man.

^the aforementioned brassiere and Josh's wtf face. You're welcome.
The second last song played was Good to You, a song originally sang with Jessica Lee. Really beautiful song. Especially acoustic, because the acoustic guitar sounds amazing and Josh does a good job at singing it. Like, even my mom liked it and she doesn't usually listen to Marianas Trench. It was a beautiful performance. I think it was the only time he wore a shirt for the entire song...

And because all good things must come to an end, as a closer, End of An Era was played. They kept the ending traditional, like, the good old grab hands and take a bow traditional and I really liked that. Couldn't get a picture because my phone ran out of room, so I'll see if I can find it on YouTube.

So as a close to this very long chapter (almost 1000 words wow) so as a reward, I'm going to put a quote from the end of Pop 101 (at least what he ad-libbed it as) and my favourite Marianas Trench song. Well, my third favourite. My favourite being This Means War, second being Alibis, and third being Say Anything. Wait, fuck, it's my fourth. Here's to the Zeroes is my first. Oops, okay, let's just say I don't have a fucking favourite Marianas Trench song. I like all of them too much to decide.

Boots and cats and boots and cats and boots and cats, it's Britney bitch!
