Allie POV

I wait at the chasm. Where is Daniel? He’s taking forever. “Hey, sorry  I got  held up.” I turn and see Daniel, out of breath and looking very sorry. I fake a scowl. “I’ve been waiting forever! How could you?” Daniel looks shocked. I roll my eyes. “I’m kidding, of course.” Daniel sighs.

“Of course.” He replies. I tilt my head.

“So what kept you?” I ask.

“I heard some people talking, I thought it was about one of you guys, so I stayed and listened, I guess it wasn’t a big deal after all.”I shake my head.

“You were eavesdropping? Seriously Daniel, why would you do that?” Daniel spreads his  arms out.

“Excuse me? I’m sorry I thought they were plotting your death or something!” I sigh and wave my hand in front of my face. “Okay!” I laugh. “Anyway, did you recognise these people? How many were there?” Daniel grins.

“No, and three.” I sigh.

“Well, maybe it isn’t as bad as you think? I mean-” he cuts me off.

“They were talking about three people, all girls, who they suspect of being Divergent.” I frown.

“Ouch.” He nods.

“And they want to kill them.”

“Double ouch.”

Daniel gives me a quick hug. “Did you follow Eric around all day?” he asks. I shake my head.

“Nope. Instead I walked around the entire faction making sure everything in the major parts were running smoothly!” I fake a grin and try sound cheery. “Isn’t that great? Half the time I didn’t even know what I was doing!” Daniel laughs.

“Come on then, let’s go find our friends.”

Nate POV

Tori hands me the tattoo gun. “Simple, right?” she asks. I nod.

“Oh yeah, as long as I don’t slip or anything, I can’t mess it up!” Tori rolls her eyes and groans.

“Just tattoo!” I blink.

“What exactly am I tattooing?” ore points to a realistic-looking mannequin she set up. I suck in a breath, “Oh, right.”

Two and a half hours later, I step back from the mannequin. “Pretty good for your first time.” Tori remarks. I look at the tattoo I’ve just done. It’s a small, black dauntless seal. It took me two hours? I bet Tori could do it in less than one, and made it more precise and less wobbly. Tori pats my back. “Nate, it’s your first time, it’s not going to be perfect straight away, don’t worry it’s still really well done!”I hand the tattoo gun back.

“Whatever” I sigh. “Maybe I’m not artistic enough to be a tattoo  artist.” Tori laughs.

“You’ll get there Nate, trust me. Besides, even I’m still learning and I’ve been doing this job for a while. Don’t stress okay? You’ll nail it in time.”
