I was running through the woods. How I got here, I don't know. Why, I remember, but barely. Wearing my black pants, black shirt, and black shoes, the only thing visible on me was my white cloak. I was thinking so hard, maybe to hard, about what happened and how they caught up with me.

I was the princess of O'Kirer and I wasn't proud. When I was born, my mother was extremely sick, practically dead, but somehow she survived. Everyone was amazed and celebrated the life and survival of their beloved queen. Well, almost everyone. Our castle doctor had particular suspicions about my mother. I know it's rude to say, but he is a very ignorant man. He doesn't understand the difference between magic users, immortals, and witches. Now, our kingdom loves immortals and magic users, but despises witches. I was confused about it, but I've put two and two together and realized it was probably about war. The doctor was a very influential man and usually used his influence for good. But one day, he turned. No one ever knew why he turned, but he did. Over time, he convinced the kingdom that we were witches. My mother was not a witch, but she was an immortal. You see, immortals have gems implanted in the palm of their hands. She has the same gem inset in her palm as I do, except mine is an obsidian gem and the one she had in her palm was a ruby. Each kind of gem or crystal corresponds with one's personality. My mother was bright, lively, and well known, like a ruby. I on the other hand, am dark, quiet, and not very trusting of certain people, like obsidian. But continuing on...

The day before the burning, she ran, taking my four-year-old brother and I with her. She stopped at a small village and had her son grow up as a guard there. Then she lived roaming from village to village until, a year later, when O'Kirer guards caught up with us. I was particularly smart for a three-year-old, but then again, I am an immortal being and we can be more intellectual than the average human. My mother told me to run, so I did. After that, I did the same thing for another seventeen years.

Run.

That brings my mind back to the present day. I was running for a while now and I was tired. I may be immortal, but I can still get tired if running for six hours without food is a factor. I finally came to a village that looked quite large. I stopped at the front gate and asked to come in. The guard at the tower to my left asked my name, to which I responded, "Please, just let me in! I beg of you, please!" And that's all I could remember before passing out in the soft grass.
