Though composed of such simple words it be,
And considered by many as outdated -
Unfashionable; wasted
As the people of our time
Give no thought to such a high-flung fancy.
The words are still there.
Verse written in ink as though set in stone
By authors unknown.
Their works indestructible,
Ideas unforgettable-
Timeless; infinite
As the Universe itself;
Such is the Beauty of Poetry.
So unlike Prose it may seem,
With its lyrical lilt and rhyming scheme,
So unlike Song it may be-
It has creativity without melody.
But within these conventional Laws,
That denotes this jumble of words
Is neither Prose nor Song,
But Poetry,
A new world of life is born,
In which lives can be changed;
History made;
Man unforgotten.
Such is the Beauty of Poetry.
