I moved to NYC two months ago. I now have this HUGE luxury apartment and the job of my dreams. So you wanna be like me? Well, it ain't easy. It's not like six easy steps. It's more like loads of hard steps. Ya see? Lemme tell you how to make a splash with my story!
When I moved, I had this tiny, one bedroom flat. It was horrible. I tried to make it home. I painted the walls pink, I put in my pink bed with my pink sheets and duvet, my pink sofa, pink carpet, pink kitchen stuff, my magazines, my- you get the idea. Well, it was actually quite nice when I was done with it. That's my magic. But I needed a job. I always wanted to be a fashion designer, but I knew I couldn't just become one overnight. I needed a steady job first. Well, harder than expected. I applied to many jobs, all of them involving fashion in some way, but didn't get any. Desperately needing a job, I ended up working in Starbucks. Yeah. But I had a job. So, now to really settle in.
Ok, the first step to settling in was clearly to make friends. And what better place to start than Starbucks, where I worked? That's where I met Phoebe and Jenni, my best friends. I met Jenni first, while I was working. She gave me my big break. She's a travel writer. She'd just been to Peru when I met her. I had been working in Starbucks for She was sitting next to this really handsome guy, and typing furiously on her laptop. She must have been really distracted, because when I served her fudge cake (mmm) she asked me "What do you call those colourful skirts women wear in Peru? " As you may have guessed, (or not, it's not really been obvious yet) I am the go to resource for fashion. At least for my friends. I mean, I don't just tell any random person what they should be wearing! But then, it was such an obvious answer that I couldn't help myself. "Polleras." I told her. Jenni looked at me in surprise and muttered "Uhh, yeah, thanks." I smiled at her. "Sure thing." Now, once you get to know me you know that once I start talking, I don't stop. So I added "By the way, you may want to try that shirt with jeans instead of.... whatever those are. Also, if you added a black cardigan and a scarf to your outfit, it would look really cool." Now Jenni was in, like, total shock. "
