10|| Conversation ~ Quincy Miller

Start from the beginning

I call this piece Collin Kaepernick.
So please keep talking.
In order for us to be free,
We need to be free from our selfs.
From the shackles that are tightly grasped around our brain .
That we see,
Understand ,
And retaliate
Efficiently
So that when the man sees us
They don't know what to do.

I call this piece Collin Kaepernick
I am still talking are you listening.
The fact that they want to implement
ALL LIVES MATTER,
But doesn't care about
My black life,
My brother hispanic life
My sister Muslim life,
Or My squad Native American life
But yeah All Lives Matter
It Matters because THEY feel they are superior.
THEY feel that they can rule both you and me.
Ha.

I call this piece Colin Kaepernick
And yes I am talking. You better be listening
For the coons and uncle Toms are out here
Bowing down to those who claim that they have the crown
While beating down on their own Kings and Queens
And then have the nerve to say
I was right, look at them
Disgusting you see.

I call this piece Colin Kaepernick
For I am talking and talking
Knowing that they are some privilledge brothers and sisters
That got our back
Learning the history
The right way
Standing tall
Standing strong for what is right
And they scream it out loud.
Like I said
We go through this struggle
We suffer.
We pain.
We cry.
We sulk.
We sigh.

I call this piece Colin Kaepernick
I am screaming oh can you hear me now
Yes I said We
Because I know what we are talking about
They say you not here
You don't know the pain
But the pain flows through everyone of our viens
As colonialism strives through the system
And racism is the key why so many of our brothers are in jail
Sisters dead in the streets
Targeted like a piece of meat.

I call this piece Colin Kaepernick
And this conversation will not go to vain
For this is not all talk and no action
For action is being done
But they just want us singing negro spirituals.
And freedom songs.
Thinking we don't know history
We don't know laws
The fight is still going
The conversation is growing

I call this piece Colin Kaepernick
So talk.
Tell the world
Scream to heavens
Let the universe know." I recited the piece to her. She had a satisfied look on her face and started to snap her fingers.

"I like this person. Okay. And whoever wrote this is so accurate. Hating on my boo for no reason." she said shaking her head. I watched her again as she said "my boo" and she started to laugh.

"You play to much." I said shaking my head. "But honestly though, that is what we have to. Educate. Because education is main factor in everything we do in life. That's why sports athletes are kneeling, raising their fists, linking their arms. Showing people we are aware and we are willing to do something."

"Exactly. And I think it was a Sacrmento game when the home girl who was singing the national anthem on the end kneeled down. Ooo I was sooo hyped. I was like yess boo. Show them." she said all hype and everything. I smiled at her actions. Moments like this remind me all the time why she is an important factor in my life. Just educated, beautiful and the best hype man one could ask for.

"Let me see this book. I really like this person writings." she said as she tried to pull the book away from me.

"Nope not yet. I have one more I want to read to you." I said as I smiled at her. She has no idea what is about to happen.

"Urg. Fine. Hurry say it, so I can go through the book." she said with her adorable pout. It is not going to work on me today though. I flipped through the pages and I finally found the poem I was looking for.

"Her.
I was stuck in the dark.
All loney.
Miserable and wild.
Until I saw her.
She came to my rescue from the leeching demons
And brought me to the light.
She taught me things
Things I never experienced
Things I never knew exist.

Everytime I see her.
I thank her
I praise her.
For rescuing me and taking me in
For molding the young boy
Into a grown man
For being with me through all my
Trial and Tribulations
Celebrations and mournings.
For showing me this thing called love.

Love is something a man
This man never thought of
Love was such a foreign concept
That he couldn't believe he could fall in.
But now since he is deep down.
Here are the words he want to say to her.

My beloved.
Full in your grace and beauty
The road we have taken in this journey has been a long one.
I want you to be at my side until it is done.
The love you have shown to me
Is something I will never
Ever take for granted.
I couldn't thank the heavens for anyone better
For you have been the best thing in my life.
So my love." At this point of the poem, she was already in tears. I got off the bed and pulled out a ring box from my pocket and went down on one knee.

"I ask you. To be my wife
The one that will be with me for better or for worse.
The one that I will continue to pour out love every single day.
The one who saved me from that dark universe." I finished the poem and closed the book. She had her hand covering her mouth and tears running from her eyes. I took her hand and watched her deeply.

"So Leilani, would you please, please marry me?" I asked her. Tears started to run down my face as she watched me in shock. She nodded her head about twenty time and I slid the diamond ring on her finger chuckling a bit. She brought my face to hers and kissed me passionately.

I was glad that we had this conversation.
