I sighed. Today had been a long day at school and I was hoping that Lauren would help me trot again today like yesterday. However, Lauren wasn't here. Only me and Jack, the 14.2hh Connemara. Suddenly a quick nicker escaped from the field across from the stables.
And of course, Rebel was here too.
I never really understood why my sister bought him. I mean, I give you he's gorgeous but he's a rescue and a physco who has nearly killed Lauren 20 times. He's crazy. And that's an understatement. He won't stop rearing if someone else rides him but that hasn't stopped Lauren from working hard. He's come a long way, from being a horse who didn't know what a pole was, to a 1m jumper, he's truly magical. And crazy.
I was grooming Jack when suddenly I heard the pounding of boots on the gravel.
'Zara,' it was Katie, one of the regular stable hands and riders.
'It's your sister, Lauren,' I was confused. Was she not coming up? Surely Katie knew that that wasn't a surprise for me. However just as I was about to nod politely, the words leapt off the tip of her tongue.
'She's in a coma.'
