I woke up to the sound of Miss Caulder's angry voice, screaming at us to "wake up at once!". I don't open my eyes, it's too early and I'm extremely tired. I feel an angry nudge at my shoulder and quickly open my eyes. Unsurprisingly, Miss Caulder stands there, her face looks like a cherry tomato, I shan't lie.
In our children's home they have always told us that honesty is the best policy. I don't particularly like lies myself, therefore if I think Miss Caulder's face looks like a cherry tomato, I will say that Miss Caulder's face does indeed look like a cherry tomato.
"Amaya!" screams the irritated Miss Caulder.
It'a there and then that I realise she was in fact yelling at me, not Em, Lia, Luna or Rachel.
I sit up as quickly as I possibly can and ask what the matter is.
"Get ready and come to my office."
Well that was vague...I put on my pale ripped jeans, pastel blue sweater and white converse. I whip my phone out to take a selfie when I remind myself that I don't have time for all this.
I run along the narrow corridors until I reach Miss Caulder's office. I take a deep breath and open the door.
"Take a seat, Amaya." She orders.
I nervously sit down on the hard leather chair and pray that I'm not in trouble, this could easily end badly and I'm not prepared to give up my phone for another week.
"We've received a letter from a man asking if he could adopt you." States Miss Caulder.
"I've really been adopted?" I say in shock. I mean, of all people he could choose...me? Not Ryan? Not Ella? Not Bruce? Not even Em?
"Well, it's not official yet...You must agree first. His name is Mr Calvin Vail." For a second you could see the start of a smile beginning to form upon her cherry tomato face. It's not usual for Miss Caulder to smile. Maybe it's because I might be leaving, but who knows?
"I agree!" I scream! I'm just so excited at the fact that someone would want to adopt me!
