Outside, a giant black dot grew bigger and bigger. After a minute, it increased from the size of a fly to the size of an orange. The size of a watermelon. The size of a car. Rapidly, Darkness took up the whole glass pane at the front of the spaceship. The blackness was different from the usual black of space. From the usual onyx, the world around was turning jet black.
"Escape!"
"What about you?"
"I have lived my life. It is not the demons of the dark that scare me, but rather those of fallen light, and there will be none where I go."
"Don't! We could find a way..."
"There isn't. I checked. Everyone has an end, Shaeria, even us. It is useless to try to prove otherwise. I hope you will understand some day. I was an honor to have been your teacher. Live"
In a few moments the huge blackness consumed the miniature speck of light. No one could have noticed twelve tiny evacuation capsules flying towards a small planet on the outskirts of the galaxy... Earth.
